Mitt Romney Guilty Of Animal Cruelty?

Robert Paul Reyes
Mitt Romney is straight out of central casting; he's tall, dark and handsome. But Romney not only has good looks, his confident demeanor and glib tongue also attracts many to his campaign.

But on second look, there's something very Stepford-like about the former governor of Massachusetts. He doesn't speak from the heart, he reads from a TelePrompTer. Romney's message is too polished, it seems too tailored for the crowd he's pandering to.

I get the impression he doesn't have any core beliefs, he will say anything to get elected. He's made a 180 degree turn on the critical issues of abortion and gay rights. He's a robot candidate, he could run as a Democrat as easily as he is running as a Republican -- just change the software.

A certain incident from Romney's past has come to light; it sheds light on the character, or lack thereof, of Mitt Romney.

From wwww.Guardian.Co.UK:

"Animal lovers hit the roof after it was revealed that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney strapped his Irish setter to the top of his car during a 12-hour drive from Boston to Ontario, terrifying the dog and causing a health hazard to other road users.

According to the Boston Globe, the former Massachusetts governor placed the dog, called Seamus, in a kennel attached to the roof of his station wagon. He and his family then set off on holiday.

After a few miles, Mr Romney's son, Tagg, raised the alarm. A brown liquid was dripping down the rear windscreen. Seamus had suffered a diarrhea attack. The results made driving difficult.

Mr Romney pulled over, borrowed a hosepipe and washed down Seamus, the car, and the kennel - then set off again with the dog still on the roof."

My dad always said, "Watch how a man treats his dog and you'll know how he treats his wife and kids." Romney's treatment of his dog is nothing short of animal abuse.

Romney is unapologetic, he dismissed the 1983 incident, claiming Seamus enjoyed being on the roof.

I would love to strap Romney on top of his campaign bus; why should he be deprived of a thrilling and enjoyable ride?

You don't have to be a PETA activist to be outraged at Romney's cavalier attitude toward animal cruelty. I hope that animal lovers, of all political persuasions, will protest Romney's cruelty.
