George W. Bush Should Withdraw The Nomination Of Harriet Miers
The Miers selection was greeted with howls of outrage from George W, Bush's most faithful supporters. Democrats are not to thrilled with her either -- it looks more and more like the stealth candidate is a bonafide anti-abortion zealot.
Miers is totally unqualified to serve on the high court: She's never served as a judge and she is a stranger to constitutional law. The only reason she was selected by Bush is because she is a loyal friend, who will most likely vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The nomination of Miers ran into more trouble when senators from both parties rejected her responses to a questionnaire as "insufficient."
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., and ranking Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont were outraged at her "incomplete" answers.
Leahy said some lawmakers considered them insulting, and asked Miers to provide more detailed answers.
"Insufficient" perfectly sums up the nomination of Miers: Insufficient qualifications, insufficient gravitas, insufficient vetting process, insufficient consultation with the Senate.
As troubled as her nomination is, Miers should have answered every question in essay form, her curt answers serve to illustrate that she doesn't have a clue.
This farce has gone long enough, George W. Bush should immediately withdraw her nomination.
It would be difficult for a bright, experienced and qualified candidate to follow the brilliant Judge John Roberts -- imagine the bloodletting that the Miers hearings will turn out to be!
