Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. has Appointed North Lake Wines with Exclusive Import Agreement
The importing of Escudo Rojo, a value priced Chilean red wine produced by Rothschild subsidiary Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo, Chile will also be imported by North Lake Wines. Escudo Rojo is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the Rappel and Maipo Valleys.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild is most famous for its Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, where in 1855 the wine made history by being named one of only five other wines considered the best in the world. Mouton Cadet retails in the U.S. from $7 to $12 per bottle, while Chauteau Mouton-Rothschild retails for $175 to $650 per bottle in the U.S.
North Lake Wines will focus on maximizing sales of Mouton Cadet in the U.S.. The winemakers of Mouton Cadet have changed the winemaking formula of the product in order to appeal to more U.S. customers by modernizing the taste by embracing a fruitier intensity, and downplaying the former earthier style for easier drinking.
