Bond: James Bond That Is

Del Williams
The newest James Bond arrived in typical 007 style, the 37-year-old swept up the River Thames on a power launch to a news conference, escorted by Royal Marines boats. He is Daniel Craig from England. The first blond Bond wore a blue suit and red tie and posed for photographers in the shadow of Tower Bridge.

When he arrived at the mics he said, "I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that, and scaring the shit out of me."

After months of speculation the wait was finally over. The blued eye secret agent will show his talent in "Casino Royale," which starts shooting in January. He survived a field of 200 possible candidates.

Not all are happy with this choice. Bond has always been dark haired. Craig may need to do some major work to win the loyal Bond fans. It is also because he is virtually unknown in the US. The Brits love him.

He said when he got the call that "I dropped what I was carrying. I went straight to the alcohol section and got myself a bottle of vodka, a bottle of vermouth and went back and made myself a Martini ... or two."

When his training is over and the film is out then the public may crown him as Bond.
