Consumer Interest Groups Demand Federal Government Legalize New Info on Wine Labels

Tracy Wallace
Overwhelming poll findings support a change in policy to standardize wine labeling information to include alcohol facts. Currently basic alcohol facts appear on other consumable products such as over-the-counter drugs.

On Wed. October 12, 2005 in Washington, D.C.; the National Consumers League and Shape Up America! will hold a major press conference revealing the over 18,000 comments to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). The groups will demand that TTB acknowledge the public health need and act immediately to legalize the additional information. The groups will command TTB to strongly suggest that vintners voluntarily provide the new labeling information until final regulations take hold.
