Whose Religion is The Right one- Is it Mine, Yours, His or Her's?

Judy Ramsook
When I was growing up, somehow I always got the feeling or the sense that the Christian religion was the right one, hence the numerous missionaries and conversions that took place before we were born and even now.

It was as if some portion of the Western Hemisphere’s wealthier countries were saying to the not so wealthy nations of the world, if you want to be somebody, you must be Christian, all, without actually saying it out as blatantly as just stated here.

So is there a religion that is right? And as a recent reader put it, can each person think that his/her religion might be the right one because it might vary from nation to nation or from one region of the world to the next?

For example, in the Western world it is known in most circles that Christianity, no matter what denomination it falls under, be it Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian and so on, is the religion that reigns supreme. And it is so because in this region, that is the religion that is practised the most, thus making it a regional thing.

But say if someone were born and raised elsewhere where another religion is being practised the most like say, Hinduism, wouldn’t that religion be seen as the superior one in that part of the world? Something that could enable non Christians to think that their religion, be it Hinduism, Moslem, Tao, Judaism and so on to be the superior one.

Maybe that is one of the reasons the many religious groups in the world will not agree that there could only be one Superior religion. Each person who belongs to a different group might think his/her’s could be the superior one.

For we all come into this world with nothing. Everything that we learn thereafter is taught to us by our elders and the extended society. If we are born into a world where Christianity is deemed to be the superior religion, then that is what we believe.

Whereas if we are born into a society where being Moslem is deemed to be superior, then that is what is believed there, in that society. So maybe there is no right religion, but it is good to know that we have our own beliefs and can feel free to turn to the Holy Book, be it The Bible, The Bhagvad Gita, The Quran and so on anytime we feel the need to do so.
