Diane and I Talked and then I Wrote
To give you a little background, as a boy I lived in the garden, and nature was my joy and fascination. Even as a preschooler I discovered this "connection" with the living growing world. I was an outdoors child. Other children didn't pay so much attention to nature and growth, though, and the confined school life and the confined home life rather insulated both you and me from this "native natural connection." But what the heck is it, really?
My independent research 1963-2003 clarifies this "mystical" sense of connectedness and can be studied by students at all levels. Sometimes I call it the "balance" or the "equilibration" principle- integrating the old brain with the new brain, and the left brain with the right brain.
Little kids are naturally happy and in their bodies and brains the balance between right and left is set on zero. When neither side of the body or brain dominates, the spirits soar like an eagle feeling the balance of its two extended wings. This balance brings humans the euphoria of nothingness- nirvana- the zero- and everything is in balance the way it naturally is. This attunement and joy isn't dependent on praise from others, or on points on tests or dollars in the bank. The balance itself brings joy to all people! Already this equilibration principle is working today, in all nations! All that is missing is more clear awareness of what this principle is, without all the mystical mumbo-jumbo and religiosity. With awareness, people can get a lot more joy and healing by consciously using the equilibration principle more and more in their lives.
I've observed little children feeling the balance in themselves. This made them happy and exuberant enough even to flap their hands. Soon in joy they will fly out of the nest and be off on some grand adventure. In adults, too, the balance brings a heavenly joy. So to make the balance work better, one strengthens is/her weaker member...arm, eye, hand, leg, brain hemisphere, etc. This balancing adds more joy, and with more joy comes more confidence, more competence, more cordiality, and other benefits. Indeed, a hidden talent may even emerge. A new ability in the child may be discovered. Joy and balance bring out more ability. And so I teach. I teach this joy.
I discovered the balance myself physically when I was tiny. I had no words or philosophy, then. I kept the balance longer than other children because I rocked myself on all fours for hours each day. I had this "autistic" joy in my body at least up to my shoulders. Most children don't do so much of this rocking. So years later I got the equilibration message and joy back as a grown person. So I made this wonderful healing discovery. Now I teach peace.
I came back to Arcata in 1980 after traveling to Santa Barbara in an attempt to start a Peace Center there. After three months I'd had to return to my family in Humboldt County. But I wasn't able to start the Peace Center in Humboldt County at that time, either. After 1985 I spent a lot of time each day caring for my mother. That went on until she died in 1992.
Peace is a new concept, and an idea that's not been clearly defined. By using a physical model, balance is easier to define. For example, children learn to balance as they crawl, walk, and play on the teeter totter. One person in balance with another keeps the joy and the teeter-totter going. For example, as children learn to teeter totter they learn to cooperate in keeping the balance going. Also, for another example, at the ping pong table two balancing persons can keep the ball in motion for a whole hour! That's hard for beginners to do. So we can start with ten seconds as a goal. This helps even children learn about peacemaking and peacekeeping. Peace really is a whole new kind of awareness. People aren't used to peace. All the modern nations evolved out of militaristic tribal cultures...cultures in which all the boys had to learn to grow up and be aggressive.
Note. In many games the object is to STOP the motion of the ball. You play to BEAT the other person. During each game the balance is broken many times by the players in conflict. And so, with our newfound interest in peace, we study the balance and we work together to become more balanced in our bodies, in our brains, and in our relations with others. And we promote understanding of this "equilibration" principle. Equilibration is the "principle of peace." Peacemakers can teach peace in everything they do.
We recognize that as infants we were joyful in the balance as we crawled around and investigated without fear, without hesitation, without shame, and without any other negative emotion. Truly our natural joy filled us to the brim! We were messianic, then, and we were good examples of The Messiah's teaching. But the followers of Christ didn't really get down to the nuts and bolts of the peace method. And Jesus Himself even denied that he was the Peacemaker-Messiah when he said emphatically, "I've come not to bring peace, but a sword." And in his apocalyptic visions John the Revelator saw Jesus Christ coming back in glory as a warrior. The messianic peace idea got confused with traditional ideas in the Judeo-Christian cultures. Even the disciples of Christ never got it right.
In 1980 I came into Arcata and found people to share my Peace Center idea with, but my language wasn't refined enough and persuasive enough. Also, I have always had some communication handicaps that make me seem odd and repulsive to some people. One person even told me that I should wear dark glasses so that people won't have to look at my eyes. Different people have reacted negatively to me in different ways, because of my unusual nature. Nevertheless, peace CAN prevail.
Even though I/m not photogenic, I'm sometimes clever, and in 1978 and 1979 I figured out an amazing method of reclaiming the therapeutic "Christ" mentality of a little child. So later as a blessed and healed person I went among young children. I got down at their level and they got the joy message of balance in their bodies, but in words of course I didn't talk to them about any theory. Their parents never studied my books because I'd not put together any book. Now, hundreds of articles later I still haven't "finished" any book. My talent mainly is in teaching. In fact I was a professional teacher from 1964 to 1968... three and a half years.
I've helped several adults by using my equilibration method, but my best work is to start the first "Demonstration Peace Center." This DPC will be a non-profit organization in which I sometimes am present to meet with people and help them understand this testable theory about "The Messiah." Or what else you want to call "The Peacemaker?" Once you really master this method, YOU become another "Messiah." Can you imagine what will happen when millions of persons with a genuine adult charm start using this method? People will be drawn to peace like bees are drawn to a honeycomb. If only were not repulsive! Since I am handicapped by a social deficit, I need helpers who are not repulsive.
If someone has a complaint against me, or someone else, then I teach them the balance. For example, if someone has a complaint against me, they step into my shoes and I step into their shoes. We learn to identify with one another and empathize. That reversal comes BEFORE we actually discuss any particular issue. We study the way of balancing. We might even have a game of ping pong in which we try to keep the ball in motion for two minutes. Let's face it, such behavior surely beats an expensive lawsuit or a shooting war. Imagine Saddam Hussein and George Bush learning to make peace at a DPC with a "Messiah" present to help facilitate the learning on both sides. That can't happen right now today, but in 20 years there might well be one million true "Messiahs," and all the politicians in all the nations might have studied at a DPC.
Joy is psychochemical and neurological. A person in joy isn't struggling to find happiness. The happy child is like a saint, joyful even in the face of poverty. Especially in our modern times, however, older children have learned to strive to get more and more and more and to a very large extent people today show that their joy is in getting more praise, more points, more money, more sex, etc. The secret of peace is in this balance that is between the two players who have learned to keep the ball in motion. In the brain itself the various functions work in balance and one talent doesn't suppress, oppress, or override another talent. One side doesn't monopolize. One person doesn't always intimidate or boss others.
Every child has the healing Christ within, but society doesn't yet understand this balance principle. So my work helps the intellect-the mind- integrate with the emotions, the intuition, and the body. Then the persons who are strong projectors of the "Mystical Presence" (sometimes referred to as God) can understand this baffling realm without superstition. Science and religion will integrate at the DPC. Continued research will back up this claim.
There are old words from different cultures that still are in modern English. Different persons might associate different images or ideas with the word "peace." I make a clear definition, so that no one is confused. Peace and war are both defined by my illustrations. For example, we can play ping pong the old competitive, combative way and we can play ping pong the new cooperative way. Note that the same devices can be used to teach peace as is used to teach war. The problem is NOT in the devices. The problem is in the HUMAN BRAINS. The new consciousness of equilibration is indispensable.
So here I've said a little bit about my research. It's been tested a lot. I can back up my claims. But I'm aware of my disabilities. For example, (1) I don't see well enough to drive safely in busy city traffic. (2) I don't have all the refined manners and sophisticated social skills people expect a "leader" to have. (3) When I demonstrate the balance in myself I don't verbalize effectively. To survive without assistance is challenging for me, because of my handicaps and my lack of sufficient community backing.
You can share this article with persons whom you respect and trust. You can tell people that I need a trustworthy representative who will be paid in different ways, especially after the DPC gets funded and my better works get marketed so that people can review my life and works. This DPC will start as a grass-roots non-profit organization. With the right co-workers I will meet more people and more community support will become available. This Center will bring more jobs to your County.
