Candida Treatment and Diagnosis

There are many infections that a man or a woman has to go through in a lifetime. Candida Albicans or Candida is one of them. This is basically an asexual fungus or a yeast that disrupts the normal functioning of the human body and causes several problems. Interestingly however, it is normally found within the human body itself in various parts such as the mouth, skin, the gut and in other areas as well. Normally the presence of candida causes no problems, only when it grows out of control does the condition become complicated. When this happens, candida kills other bacteria’s in the region and this is just the beginning of the problem. Candida has the ability to get transformed into a fungal form and mix up with the blood and affect other body parts thus leading to many complications.

The candida fungus also affects the genital regions. This is just 1 of the around 500 species of bacteria’s that stay within the human body at any given time.

Since candida stays within the body, there are some obvious advantages of course. But when there is a candida infection, it usually kicks off from the digestive system and then affects the other parts. Though the candida infection happens in men across the world, but this condition is more associated with women in whom often the vagina gets affected.

When there is a candida infection, the production of yeast would increase and as a result, the condition can be manifested as skin rashes. Many people turn to antibiotics (actually this practice is quite normal these days), but in trying to kill infections, antibiotics end up killing the good bacteria as well. Candida vaginitis is a condition that happens in women and this is associated with excessive use of antibiotics. Using antibiotics can also lead to a larger number of the candida fungus in the GI tract.

The idea of the candida fungus causing harm to the body is however debated hotly by the medical fraternity – there are those who do not agree to the theory that the fungus can cause any harm. There are those who even say that candida does not exist, and this makes diagnosing the condition difficult. But many people including celebrities confirm that they have candida.

The medical profession denies its existence, except in very limited cases, making it very difficult (probably impossible) to get a medical diagnosis of Candida even when an overgrowth has been confirmed by a laboratory test.

Despite this situation, public awareness of Candida has continued to grow, helped no doubt by the long list of celebrities who, quite unperturbed by its lack of medical status, assert that they have had it. However an overgrowth of candidiasis was first observed by the US physicians as early as the 1970s.

Candida or thrush as it is also known as, is surprisingly common. Of course it is present in everyone, but it causes infections in many as well. But there are now medications that can penetrate into the cell membrane to effectively clear candida effectively and quickly.
