Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, one of the most empty headed members of Nancy Pelosi's Brassiere Brigade, has yet another unconstitutional anti-Second Amendment piece of legislation on the front burner, endorsed by Bill O'Reilly and, of course, another anti-Constitution slimy serpent, counterfeit Senator Charles Schumer. The alert below comes from Gun Owners of America attempting to kill the "McCarthy-Dingell" bill, H.R. 297. This legislation by constitutionally challenged McCarthy came fast on the heels of the Virginia Tech slaughter. Of course, mush heads like McCarthy never address the real problem, her only goal since being installed in Congress is to be a $benevolent$ fairy grand mother to her female constituents and destroy the Second Amendment because of a personal tragedy.
According to Gun Owners of America's latest bulletin:
"The bill provides about $1 billion to the states to "provide the National Instant Criminal Background Check System [NICS] with all records concerning persons who are prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm... regardless of the elapsed time since the disqualifying event. As GOA has pointed out in previous alerts, this could lead to millions more Americans being included in the FBI's database of prohibited persons.
"Dingell, being a former NRA board member, is in a unique position in the Congress on Second Amendment issues. Despite the fact that he betrayed gun owners by supporting the Clinton semi-auto ban, he is still viewed on the Hill as one of the few pro-gun Democrats. So his support gives the bill the appearance of having the support of gun owners, when actually it is the most massive expansion of gun control in over a decade. McCarthy, of course, is the most notorious anti-gunner in the Congress. Her sitting down with Dingell to decide the fate of our gun rights is like two foxes deciding how to best guard the hen house.
"To make matters worse, Dingell is in negotiations with the NRA to come up with a 'compromise' as quickly as possible. The NRA itself told Newsweek in an exclusive interview on April 24 that the group "backs [the] proposed new legislation" in the House. Newsweek reported, "The NRA's position puts the group at odds with the Gun Owners of America, which has already launched a public campaign to block the legislation that the NRA supports, warning that the proposal could 'block millions of additional, honest gun owners from buying firearms.' Politicians always seek to pass laws in the aftermath of a tragedy, as if one more law will stop evil people from doing evil deeds. Instead of passing more and more laws that ultimately will snuff out our liberty, we should consider repealing gun control laws that prevent citizens from defending themselves when a madman strikes."
Art. 2, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution does not authorize Congress to steal from the people's treasury to throw ONE BILLION DOLLARS to the states for this type of legislation. The way the bill is written, these gun haters didn't even attempt to push it under the massive umbrella of interstate commerce.
There is no money in the people's purse. The congressionally created national debt is currently just under $9 TRILLION DOLLARS. To authorize this non existent one billion dollars is to write another hot check and pass the debt onto your back and further reduce your children and grand children to little better than oxen. Sadly, this daily rape of the people's labor doesn't seem to bother people much as they go about their compartmentalized daily lives. They see the headlines followed by fifteen second sound bites with proposed solutions from lying politicians and simply return to their comfortable state of zombie. Very foolish, indeed.
Rational thinking Americans know this unconstitutional legislation will not curb or stop violence in this country, it is simply another step towards disarming Americans who are mandated under the Second Amendment to be part of the organized militias under the control of the state legislatures and that requires they own a gun:
"As the Amendment makes clear—indeed, as the Amendment requires every American to accept, as a matter of constitutional law—"[a] well regulated Militia" is not simply "a good idea," or "a suggestion," or something that "ought to be considered," but nonetheless remains "controversial" or "debatable." Neither is it an anachronism. Rather, it is necessary, right now, for a very specific purpose of a very special kind: "the security of a free State." The Second Amendment forecloses any quibbling on that subject. For, aside from the Preamble, the Second Amendment is the only provision of the Constitution that sets out a reason for the right it guarantees ("the right of the people to keep and bear Arms") and the disability it imposes on public officials ("shall not be infringed")—which highlights the importance, and the imperative nature, of the Amendment's Militia clause.
"In each State, constitutional Militia are to be composed of all able-bodied men and women, from 16 to 60 years of age, who are to be armed, trained, and ready to assume certain duties to provide the ultimate form of "homeland security," by wielding the Power of the Sword in their local communities. As I have written until my fingers go numb: you can either continue treating the cancer or you can go for the cure. As Gun Owners of America (GOA) state above, all of these gun laws should be repealed, not only because Americans have the right to defend themselves, but because a certain segment of the population are required to be armed as I have quote from Dr. Edwin Vieira's scholarly columns on this issue. Here are a few facts the controlled media won't be broadcasting anytime soon:
"Twice as many children are killed playing football in school than are murdered by guns. That's right. Despite what media coverage might seem to indicate, there are more deaths related to high school football than guns. In a recent three year period, twice as many football players died from hits to the head, heat stroke, etc. (45), as compared with students who were murdered by firearms (22) during that same time period.6
"Vermont: one of the safest five states in the country. In Vermont, citizens can carry a firearm without getting permission . . . without paying a fee . . . or without going through any kind of government imposed waiting period. And yet for ten years in a row, Vermont has remained one of the top-five, safest states in the union—having three times received the "Safest State Award."31
Problems with waiting periods and background checks: A. Waiting periods threaten the safety of people in imminent danger
Bonnie Elmasri—She inquired about getting a gun to protect herself from a husband who had repeatedly threatened to kill her. She was told there was a 48 hour waiting period to buy a handgun. But unfortunately, Bonnie was never able to pick up a gun. She and her two sons were killed the next day by an abusive husband of whom the police were well aware.58
Marine Cpl. Rayna Ross—She bought a gun (in a non-waiting period state) and used it to kill an attacker in self-defense two days later.59 Had a 5-day waiting period been in effect, Ms. Ross would have been defenseless against the man who was stalking her.
Los Angeles riots—USA Today reported that many of the people rushing to gun stores during the 1992 riots were "lifelong gun control advocates, running to buy an item they thought they'd never need." Ironically, they were outraged to discover they had to wait 15 days to buy a gun for self-defense.60
The leaders of this latest grab for more gun control are attempting to do the same thing with this rancid legislation as what happened when the Brady Law came up for a vote:
"The infamous Brady Bill was voted on by only two counterfeit U.S. Senators, Bob Dole and George Mitchell. They pronounced the measure adopted by unanimous consent, a 'parliamentary device' that allowed the leaders to pass the legislation themselves, by voice vote, after ascertaining that no Senator would object. According to the NY Times, November 25, 1993, there were 97 empty senate seats. "After days of personal animus and futile back room dealing, Republicans backed down without much to show for their efforts. The bill passed without debate, with only three Senators sitting in a chamber emptied by the Thanksgiving holiday." What an outrage.
"Is this what our Founding Fathers wrote into the Constitution? Since when does our Republican form of government practice 'parliamentary devices'? Yes, Art. 1, Sec. 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution states that "Each House may determine the Rules of its proceedings..." But, don't you as the individual being represented, want your house member or senator to personally vote on all bills that might become law? I do."
State legislators need to get on the phone to the Congress critter who represents their district and tell them two things: (1) This legislation should be voted on by all members of the House, and (2) vote NO on this insidious bill. This is another attempt by Congress to overstep their legislative authority and grab more power from the states. We need our state houses to stand up to Washington, DC. Of course, it would be nice if just one state legislature would challenge the fraud of the Seventeenth Amendment and regain their full power of representation. There is absolutely no reason why members of our state legislatures can't get on the phone and tell these people in Washington, DC, that they don't have the legislative authority under Art. 1, Sec. 8 of the supreme law of the land to keep passing this junk and that the states WILL fight back just as they are doing on the Soviet style National ID.
At the same time, state legislators need to tell the counterfeit U.S. Senator who represents them in Congress unlawfully, to vote NO on the upcoming vote on S.B. 1348 the phony Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007. The states will be further overrun with illegals and complete bankruptcy is the only result. The State of Arizona can be sure John McCain will vote to reward lawlessness and their state legislature will have to swallow his vote because they have no representation in Washington. Again - this is why the states must challenge the 17th Amendment. State legislators owe it to their citizenry to get on the phone and fight S.B. 1348.
What can you do? Today, whether in commute traffic, at lunch or home, call your congress critter in the House of Representatives and tell them to vote NO on McCarthy's H.R. 297. No compromise, period. Tell him/her that they do not have the authority under Art. 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution to pass this type of legislation and ask them where in Hades is this BILLION DOLLARS supposed to come from when the treasury is not only empty, but overdrawn almost $9 TRILLION DOLLARS?
Ask your congress critter where he/she has the authority to vote on any legislation when there is no money in the bank and that you resent the hell out of this continued writing of hot checks which requires more borrowing from the privately owned Federal Reserve, further enslaving you and your children. There are more than 80 million gun owners in this country. If only 10% stand up for their rights and get on the phone, we can defeat this latest attempt by Comrade McCarthy and her cronies. Don't expect the other guy to make the call because most likely he won't or doesn't know anything about this bill.
Also, tell your counterfeit U.S. Senator that you DEMAND they vote NO on S.B. 1348. Listen to Frosty Wooldridge when he tells you what will happen if this bill passes because Bush will sign it in a heart beat:
"If it passes, we face adding 100 million people into the USA by 2040. Over 70 million will be immigrants from third world countries. It will give amnesty to over 20 million illegals and their kids.
