Bikini Wax Anyone?

Robert Paul Reyes
The English language is a living entity: Words change meaning and new ones are constantly being added to the lexicon.

It's not academicians who invent most of the words that find their place in the English language, it's everyday people who conjure up new words to describe new things and new situations.

The latest edition of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary includes 15 new interesting words and phrases: Bikini wax, brain freeze, cybrarain, hospitalist, civil unions, steganography...

If you want to know the definition of "brain freeze", go to 7-Eleven, gulp a Slurpee, and you will be an expert on the subject.

"Bikini wax" is a very painful treatment that some ladies undergo so they can wear thongs to the beach, without being arrested for indecent exposure.

Alternate definition of Bikini wax: A painful procedure that women suffer so that guys will get a lot of pleasure watching them parade around in skimpy bikinis.

A cybrarian is a person who finds, collects, and manages information available on the Internet. A cybrarian is second cousin to the nerdy librarian who is always nagging you to "please be quiet."

And if you want to know what "steganography means, you are a bigger geek than a cybrarian.
