Being Where You Are

Judy Ramsook
If most people are good and successful at what they do, no matter what age they are right now, they are happy to be in that place in life, where they happen to be presently. Especially if it took those individuals a longer time than they had planned on taking to get them there.

Then there are some persons who might not be pleased with where they have reached, some of whom may gladly want to turn back the clock so they can relive their lives all over again.

Sometimes those individuals might say such things as, oh if I could just do it all over again.

But in order to do that, first those individuals must first be aware of certain things.

They must know about those decisions and mistakes they have made along the way. Decisions and mistakes that may have taken them on the path that led them to a rather unfulfilled and unsuccessful life, which is where they are presently. Why?

For in order to start anew, one would have to make the least amount of mistakes as possible and more right decisions than not so right ones, to stay on that path. For all it might take to stray, is one wrong turn on the road of life.

A turn from which one may not recover. And who knows with full certainty the outcome of anyone’s life, how does anyone know for sure that he/she would not make the same mistake more times than he/she can keep track of? And truly, would anyone want to go back and do all those things that may now seem exhausting, all over again?

Would anyone want to say, return and go through elementary, and high schools all over again. Because while they were there previously, it seemed like it may have never ended.

With all the home work assignments and projects that kept some up until the early hours of the morning. Things that might have made some wonder, why does Friday take such a long time to get here. And then high school is finally over, with the most interesting part of one’s life yet to come. Adulthood.

The time where one obtains a chance to make a few decisions on his or her own, for this is their life with their own dreams yet to be fulfilled. The thing is, fulfilling those dreams might not always be as easy as they seem within the vastness of one’s imagination.

So if at least one of those dreams has been fulfilled with struggles and obstacles that person overcame, and that person is contented to be where he/she is, then why bother to keep looking back wishing one could change something about his/her life?

If being where you are now took longer than you ever expected, and you are happy with the results so far, then instead of looking back, look forward to what else you can accomplish, it’s those results that may surprise you even further.
