Getting in Shape with Fish Oil

Michael Byrd
When it comes to getting in shape, I love the mindset but I sure hate the burn! You know, the burn in your muscles after working out. The way you limp around the next day and don't want to stick to your routine. The way it looks like someone might have just kicked your behind in a fight you're so tender to the touch and jumpy...Well, I guess you're getting the picture. To be honest, I just hate being sore.

Fortunately for me, when I work out I have a secret weapon against soreness on my side. No, it's not that I lift lighter (though it's tempting) or I skip my workouts (though I'd like to). It's something simpler: omega 3 fish oil. Thanks to my daily dose of fish oil, my muscles are stronger and more resilient - oh, and less likely to be sore, did I mention that? - than they used to be.

So how does that little bit of magic work? Well, for starters, it's not magic; it's science. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that, among other things, fight inflammation (that's why they're called "anti-inflammatories!") When your body has plenty of omega 3 fatty acids, it is less likely to experience muscle soreness. And that means...voila! Fewer muscle aches and pains when you work out.

Of course, muscle soreness is only one of the reasons I take omega 3 fish oil. I also like the fact that it's great for my heart, helps me concentrate and fends off everything from breast cancer to migraines.
