The Local Buzz Honors Top Writers for 2006

It gives me great pride to announce that Jill DiLiberto has been named Writer of the Year for The Local Buzz. Jill’s column, Positive Parenting, has been a regular part of our publication for well over a year and is consistently one of the most popular articles among our readers. Each and every month, her work is clear, concise, and helpful to parents with children of all ages. In addition, Jill has also penned a number of colorful and interesting articles for the Buzz.
What is especially gratifying about recognizing Jill in this manner is her dedication in this most difficult of times. As some of you may already know, Jill is currently fighting late-stage ovarian cancer. Despite the enormous physical and emotional challenges that she has been forced to endure, her work has never been late or suffered in its quality. Her example of professionalism is a reflection of her high caliber as a person and serves as an inspiration to all of us at The Local Buzz.
For the second year in a row, Gloria Mikula, M.D. has been recognized for her work with the Buzz. This year she has been named our Columnist of the Year. As the author of Health Tips, Dr. Mikula has gathered a very loyal group of readers, who have told us on many an occasion just how much they have learned about personal health issues from her monthly column…and it’s easy to understand why. Not only does the good doctor possess a wealth of knowledge on medical issues, but her work is written in a manner that all of us can understand and learn from. We’re very lucky to have someone like Gloria on our staff.
Not exactly a newcomer when it comes to writing, Michelle Kaplan has been named Best Opinion Columnist for 2006. An accomplished award-winning journalist, Michelle’s Buzzed Perspective has been from the very beginning one of our most popular columns. Her witty, dry sense of humor…along with a hot cup of coffee… are an ideal way to start any day.
