Money (Then Love) Makes The World Go Round

G. K. Sanghar
One will never know the worth of dollars and cents unless you've been broke before. Truly I sincerely believe that money makes the world go round. It is simply impossible to live without a bank balance. Yes, I do agree that money cannot buy one happiness, but loads of cash can certainly buy you things that will make you and your loved ones happy.

If you've got no money, then how can anyone attain the right education? How will one be accessible to health care benefits? How can one buy a house or a car? How can one be financially secured in a relationship? How can anyone enjoy the basic activities of life such as dining outside, watching a movie with friends or joining a cooking class, for instance?

Not many marry for money, but partners do ensure that there's enough for a rainy day because that's how the world functions and that's why the capitalist mentality prevails. It is unfortunate but true.

We live to earn, and earn to live, to rent a new loft, to pay the bills, to please oneself with materialistic possessions, to pamper your better half, to settle down, to have kids, to educate your kids, to buy a new car, to pay off the mortgage, to pay for health insurance, to retire, and to eventually ensure that you have enough to buy yourself a comfy coffin when your time ends. That's life right, I mean in the most honest sense?

I miss the simple things, but then again 'simple' can be boring if you keep carrying out the same acts every now and then. Like going for a walk by the sea-side, watching the clouds go by, counting the stars at night, holding on to a loved one, swimming in the ocean, meeting new people and dancing to the sound of the wind - all of which are priceless - especially hugs...I love giving and taking 'hugs'! The tight embrace of a loved one always makes me feel all warm on the inside, and let my worries drift away.

But the above-mentioned cannot be relived everyday - that is, in the most polite sense - the life of a BUM! As much as we love fairy-tales, life is not solely full of happy endings. There are sad endings too, tragic love stories, astonishing revelations and life-threatening happenings...and most of the time, 'money' is common factor in such cases. Either the lack of it or due to having too much money, we, sometimes take life for granted.

We forget about the little things in life that make us happy, and even if we do get carried away into a selfless bubble for a moment or two, there will always be someone to remind us that we've got to make a change in our lives. Whether it being to get a new job, a new boyfriend, a transplant - in other words - when someone says 'move on, get a life' - it hopelessly means to start making some money because you're going to need to gather all the cash you can acquire for a better life in the coming future.

So have you made your wishlist? I've got to get started sooner or later, and believe me when I say that money is undoubtedly at the top of my list! I don't mean to sound materialistic - I don't need money to buy me extravagant pleasures. In fact, one needs money to pleasure the ones around us, and with that, one feels pleased!

Don't deny it, there's going to be a whole lot of 'pleasing around' to do, knowing that Christmas and the new year's lurking around the corner!
