The Herman Cain Sex Scandal

"GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain said he was "falsely accused" of sexual harassment while head of the National Restaurant Association and did not know anything about a financial settlement between the trade group and his accusers.

Cain spoke on Fox News this morning, in his first direct remarks about a Politico report that alleged he was twice accused of "sexually suggestive behavior" while leading the restaurant trade group in the mid-19990s."

USA Today

Two ladies working at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990`s, when Cain was the head of the organization, left their jobs at the trade group after alleging that Cain sexually harassed them.

When the Herman Cain sex scandal first broke yesterday the candidate was mum, and his aides issued a series of evasive statements. We have seen this story play out countless times: A politician is accused of sexual impropriety and at first he dodges the questions, then he kinda sorta admits to something, and finally when the mistress is doing the talk show rounds, he finally bawls like a baby and apologizes to his wife, his constituents and everybody else under the sun.

The best course of action is to immediately and emphatically deny the allegations if they are false, and if they are are true immediately fess up.

Today Herman Cain said he was "falsely accused" of sexual harassment and didn`t know anything about a financial settlement between the trade group and his accusers.

Cain`s vehement denial might have been believable if he hadn`t said yesterday that the accusations were "vaguely familiar." If I were falsely accused of sexual harassment, it would be a traumatic experience that I would never forget.

Cain`s shtick is playing the role of a businessman who doesn`t act like a conventional politician. The former CEO of Godfather`s Pizza is handling this sex scandal like a typical politician, and his campaign won`t be able to recover now that he`s been unmasked as a typical rotten politician.
