Trust Crisis in Egypt may threat the new born democracy

Ahmed Hany
The silent majority watches what happens and its trust in all political movements is eroding day after day. During last spring after the revolution the silent majority admired the revolutionaries and even they blamed themselves because they did not do what the revolutionaries have done. Tahrir square could move the silent majority and they went to the referendum in heavy masses for the first time during the last sixty years.

Yet later on after seven months they know now that political movements did not have the minimum agreement about the national security. During some conflicts the political movements did not provide good analysis and methods of reform to the silent majority. They blamed each other and blamed the military council and the weak ministry.

Swinging in political stances expressed temporary hypocrite advantages more than real ideologies. The Moslems brotherhood openly refused the religious state and called for the civilian one then they appointed the leaders of their party and more kept the guidance bureau as a reference like the Iranian system of Superior Guide. They welcomed Ragab Erdogan the Turkish prime minister warmly. Then they attacked him when he supported the secular state.

On the liberal side a liberal prominent thinker Amr Hamzawy joined many political parties and movements and resigned for unobvious reasons and finally he formed his party to express leadership. The liberals could not keep the momentum by declaring a unified leadership and manifesto for the revolution that could attract the silent majority.

All of a sudden Salafists joined the club after they were refusing the mere idea of opposing the government and they are claiming that they were in Tahrir fr4om day one. Their appearance sent shudders to the brotherhood then they tried to strike deals, something the brotherhood mastered during the impeached regime era.

There newspapers told that the Saudi Arabia sent five billion dollars to the Salafists to support the Wahabism in Egypt. The United States told that it sent forty millions to some revolutionaries to support them. The Justice Minister talked about a small Gulf State that sent one hundred and eighty one million for bullies to attack embassies and the interior ministry.

The government declared that it will investigate the cases and it will declare about the senders and receivers of foreign innocent money. Until now it did not tell anything. All political movements asked the military council to apply tough measures against bullies and when it used the emergency law they attacked it.

There was news about seven presidential hopefuls that they had a meeting to form a one hundred council that will work as an advisory council to the military council. Then they did not agree on whom will go to the military council carrying the suggestions, one of the newspapers told.

Now the brotherhood threat that they will take hard measures if the elections will be postponed and when one analyzes their stances that that means return to violence they deny what they said. All political movements publish videos about the others saying the thing and the contrary.

This shows that the majority silent that a survey showed that ninety five percent of it trusts the Military Council they trust it not because they like the military rules but because they do not trust politicians anymore. They simply want security and stability to restart without corruption. The problem is that the democracy project will be postponed for at least five years. Or the power exchange will reach the parliament and the ministry but it is doubtful to reach the presidential palace before a leader is present. The Egyptians who welcomed Erdogan were dreaming of finding an Egyptian one. This an early failure for the presidential hopefuls.
