RNC = Really Not Complying

Political Desk
Today, the RNC issued a press release indicating that they would not comply with requests made by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform for materials relating to the possibly illegal use of RNC emails by White House staff members. RNC Chairman Mike Duncan argued that turning over the e-mails meant revealing the RNC’s “playbook.”

Democratic National Committee Communications Director Karen Finney issued the follow response:

Based on their most recent election results we can't imagine anybody would want the Republican playbook for anything but lining their bird cage. However, if that playbook includes government officials improperly pressuring independent law enforcement officers, then those responsible should be held accountable and shouldn't be above the law simply because they work for the Republican National Committee or because they are government officials who used RNC e-mail accounts.

Clearly the RNC, like President Bush, didn't understand the clear message the American people sent last November when they soundly rejected the Republican culture of corruption that has sought to turn our Government into a massive ‘K Street project’ pushing their own partisan, narrow political ideology, rewarding ‘loyal Bushies’ with jobs and contracts, and ignoring the facts that don't fit their narrow agenda. Enough is enough, it is time for the truth.”
