Business Leaders of America
When one such entrepreneur was asked about the hardest decision he ever had to make, he answered that he didn´t know what a hard decision was. An entrepreneur will approach decision-making with the idea that there´s a strong likelihood that he/she will be wrong. This doesn´t dissuade them to the contrary they just do the best they can and worry about handling obstacles as they arise.
Here are a few top entrepreneurs in the U.S.:
Alstom
Alstom, a global leader in clean technology innovation, today announced a series of webinars on October 6 and 7, 2011 to present findings from a comprehensive study into challenges and best practices associated with integrating variable renewable energy sources into global power grids. The presentations will be delivered by Dr. Lawrence Jones, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Policy and Industry Relations for Alstom Grid in North America, who led this study as principal investigator. "This report is based on insight from grid operators in 18 countries who together account for more than 72% of worldwide wind generating capacity. That scope makes it the first known research to draw from such a broad sampling of global utility expertise," said Jones. "Special thanks are due to the grid operators who participated in this project, the five-member Industry Advisory Committee, the Utility Wind Integration Group and other industry associations, who provided invaluable support."
University of New England
Acting dean of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, Andrew Card, touched upon a range of topics, from the U.S. Constitution to 9-11 conspiracy theories, in his lecture titled, "Whispered Interruption: Bush Leads a Changed World," at University of New England this evening. Card shared his personal recollections of September 11, calling it "the day that innocence was violated." As chief of staff, Card was the individual who informed President George W. Bush of the second plane striking the second tower at the World Trade Center; the photo of him whispering into the president´s ear has become a piece of cultural history. Andrew H. Card Jr., has held a variety of top-level governmental positions under three U.S. presidents. He served as White House chief of staff under President George W. Bush from 2001 until 2006. Card served as deputy chief of staff and, subsequently, as secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush. He also was appointed as special assistant and later deputy assistant to the president, as well as director of intergovernmental affairs by President Ronald Reagan. This is the second high-profile speaker in the George and Barbara Bush Distinguished Lecture Series, an annual event honoring the legacy of President and Mrs. Bush as political and community leaders. Last year´s inaugural lecture featured Lieutenant General Brent Scowcroft, who shared "Reflections on the End of the Cold War."
ComplianceTech
ComplianceTech Announces that the 2010 HMDA Data Released Today Show Less Competition. The 2010 HMDA data contains mortgage lending transactions at 7,923 U.S. financial institutions covered by the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA). "The FFIEC stated that the number of reporting institutions fell 2 percent from 2009, attributable to a relatively large decline (about 7 percent from 2009) in the number of mortgage companies reporting data." But in the opinion of Dr. Debby Lindsey-Taliefero, Associate Professor, Howard University, "the figures reveal a dramatic and troubling trend toward industry consolidation and less competition in comparison to the number of reporters for prior years." Lindsey-Taliefero maintains that "the reduction of lenders competing in the marketplace has fallen by nearly a thousand since 2006. Less competition rarely, if ever, benefits the consumer."
Rokstok.com
While thousands of businesses are continuing to struggle in a downed economy, Rokstok.com is demonstrating tremendous sales growth. This growth has created the need for additional sales, marketing, customer service, and administrative staff members. "We couldn't be more elated with the opportunities that we've been able to offer people due to our recent success," explains Andrew Moquin, president and CEO of Rokstok, an e-commerce site specializing in engagement rings, wedding rings, Tacori, and Verragio products. "Our standards are high and we require the sales support staff to be experienced and well-trained. In-fact, each sales support member must have their AJP from the Gemological Institute of America, the second highest accreditation that can be achieved in the jewelry industry."
Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation)
On Monday, September 26th, nearly 1,000 individuals will acknowledge this day by organizing awareness and fundraising events by participating in various runs and walks, by requesting official proclamations from their local governments, and by asking their local media to cover this rarely-mentioned cancer. This umbrella event, which started in 2004 by volunteers of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation), is meant to bring attention to this dangerous, but rarely discussed, cancer. Information about related events can be found on the Meso Foundation´s website. Mesothelioma, which is known to be caused by exposure to asbestos, is extremely aggressive and difficult to treat, yet few resources are available to patients once diagnosed. A search of the internet will generally yield thousands of legal marketing websites, leaving patients confused. Only the Meso Foundation provides immediate medical expertise to every individual, one-on-one guidance through the challenges posed by mesothelioma, and a community of peers to rely on for personal support.

Crosswind Communications for Jobs For Vets
This week marked the launch of a new national veterans´ organization, Jobs For Vets. Headquartered in Austin, TX, Jobs For Vets was established by Air Force veteran and former legislator Dan Shelley to raise awareness and advocate for increased transitional support, access to higher education opportunities, better employment incentives and a strong economic and policy environment to help those who have served our nation. "The men and women who´ve served our country deserve better than America is giving them," said Shelley, Jobs For Vets founder and chairman. "In Texas, our leadership has created the most veteran-and military-friendly environment of any state in the country. Unfortunately that is not the case everywhere. Nationwide, the unemployment rate for veterans who served in the last ten years is higher than the national average. Jobs For Vets was created to promote programs that ensure a smooth transition from the battlefield to the boardroom, from boots on the ground to suits worn in American business. We must ensure that America´s veterans have economic opportunity and jobs awaiting them when they leave the service."

Clarkson Eyecare
The Clarkson Eyecare Foundation, in partnership with the Pujols Family Foundation, has made a second successful trip to the Dominican Republic. Clarkson´s own Dr. Kathleen Doan and Dr. Michael Rohde were among ten other doctors and assistants on the trip, and were able to serve more than 560 people. The mission team was able to visit three Dominican "bateys" during their week stay. A batey is a labor community made up of impoverished Haitian-Dominicans. These typically consist of scantily built government quarters or shacks built next to large area dumps. "The people of the bateys were amazing," says Dr. Rohde. "Their gratitude and appreciation was overwhelming, and their joy and excitement from seeing clearly, possibly for the first time, is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Rarely do I see patients in our country respond in such a manner, and it makes me realize we often take access to healthcare for granted."
