Entrepreneurial leaders do not have a mindset that adapts to failure. Things go wrong, of course, but entrepreneurs don´t call them "failures" they call them "glitches, mistakes, bungles, setbacks", but not failing.
When one such entrepreneur was asked about the hardest decision he ever had to make, he answered that he didn´t know what a hard decision was. An entrepreneur will approach decision-making with the idea that there´s a strong likelihood that he/she will be wrong. Acting dean of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, Andrew Card, touched upon a range of topics, from the U.S. Constitution to 9-11 conspiracy theories, in his lecture titled, "Whispered Interruption: Bush Leads a Changed World," at University of New England this evening. Card shared his personal recollections of September 11, calling it "the day that innocence was violated." As chief of staff, Card was the individual who informed President George W. Bush of the second plane striking the second tower at the World Trade Center; the photo of him whispering into the president´s ear has become a piece of cultural history. Andrew H. Card Jr., has held a variety of top-level governmental positions under three U.S. presidents. He served as White House chief of staff under President George W. Bush from 2001 until 2006. Card served as deputy chief of staff and, subsequently, as secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush. He also was appointed as special assistant and later deputy assistant to the president, as well as director of intergovernmental affairs by President Ronald Reagan. This is the second high-profile speaker in the George and Barbara Bush Distinguished Lecture Series, an annual event honoring the legacy of President and Mrs. Bush as political and community leaders. Last year´s inaugural lecture featured Lieutenant General Brent Scowcroft, who shared "Reflections on the End of the Cold War."

Clarkson Eyecare
The Clarkson Eyecare Foundation, in partnership with the Pujols Family Foundation, has made a second successful trip to the Dominican Republic. Clarkson´s own Dr. Kathleen Doan and Dr. Michael Rohde were among ten other doctors and assistants on the trip, and were able to serve more than 560 people. The mission team was able to visit three Dominican "bateys" during their week stay. A batey is a labor community made up of impoverished Haitian-Dominicans. These typically consist of scantily built government quarters or shacks built next to large area dumps. "The people of the bateys were amazing," says Dr. Rohde. "Their gratitude and appreciation was overwhelming, and their joy and excitement from seeing clearly, possibly for the first time, is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Rarely do I see patients in our country respond in such a manner, and it makes me realize we often take access to healthcare for granted."

Program will also be performed at New York City´s prestigious Carnegie Hall, November 19th. Baltimore, Md. (September 22, 2011) – The centerpiece of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra´s (BSO) 2011-2012 season-long celebration of revolutionary women is a performance of Swiss composer Arthur Honneger´s 1935 semi-staged oratorio Jeanne d´Arc au Bûcher ("Joan of Arc at the Stake"), commemorating the 600th anniversary of French heroine Joan of Arc´s birth. BSO Music Director Marin Alsop and the BSO will combine forces with the Concert Artists of Baltimore Vocalists, Peabody Hopkins Chorus, Morgan State University Choir and Peabody Children´s Chorus for concerts on Thursday, November 17 at 8 p.m. and Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program will also be performed at New York City´s prestigious Carnegie Hall on November 19 at 8 p.m. Featured singers also include sopranos Tamara Wilson and Hae Ji Chang, mezzo-soprano Kelley O´Connor, tenor Timothy Fallon, bass Morris Robinson and Cynthia Millar on the ondes Martenot. Despite finishing dead last, the team repaired the car in time for Sunday´s Championship race. In Sunday warm up driver Ben Anderson was able to break the 2008 course record with a time of 1:40.7. There are four locations to choose from: Drew University-Madison, NJ; College at St. Elizabeth-Madison, NJ; Gold´s Gym-Whippany, NJ and the Bridgewater JCC-Bridgewater, NJ.
How the lessons work: Pick the time and day for lessons at one of the four locations. All lessons are private lessons and registration is done online.

Sessions offered: Year round lessons with sessions typically ranging from 5-6 weeks.

Clarkson Eyecare
The Clarkson Eyecare Foundation, in partnership with the Pujols Family Foundation, has made a second successful trip to the Dominican Republic. Clarkson´s own Dr. Kathleen Doan and Dr. Michael Rohde were among ten other doctors and assistants on the trip, and were able to serve more than 560 people. The mission team was able to visit three Dominican "bateys" during their week stay. A batey is a labor community made up of impoverished Haitian-Dominicans. These typically consist of scantily built government quarters or shacks built next to large area dumps. "The people of the bateys were amazing," says Dr. Rohde. "Their gratitude and appreciation was overwhelming, and their joy and excitement from seeing clearly, possibly for the first time, is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Rarely do I see patients in our country respond in such a manner, and it makes me realize we often take access to healthcare for granted."
