Perfect Things

We all moan and groan about the vissitudes of life, more than we should or is justified often. But there are some things and moments that are indeed perfect. They can´t be improved upon.

Seeing your wife holding your newborn child for the first time is perfect. She may be a bit bedraggled from the experience and the baby squirmy and still coated with baby matter but they look perfect. Those are moments locked in time and there are none better.

When you wake up and there is a fresh layer of snow on the ground for Christmas morning and the kids are so excited about Christmas day and then the excitement of the snow makes for a time frozen in your memory. Even in Yankee land you can´t count on that ever year. They are special.

Remember that time when you first rode your bike without your dad holding on to the back and no training wheels and your realized you could do this? You had a big smile and enjoyed one of those moments when everything was perfect for a moment.

"We look forward to having you on board and will see you Monday morning". You walk out knowing you had that first job. You couldn´t wait to tell your siginificant other or you parents I guess in today´s economy.

Holding your infant and smelling that baby smell for the first time. No wonder they have those flowers called "baby´s breath". Yeah, I know they also do their thing and have to be cleaned but they do smell so fresh and pure.

Riding home on the team bus after you won a game that no one expected you to win. The ride seems short and even the locker room smell isn´t noticed afterward. For an hour it doesn´t get much better than that.

"We´ll Meet Again" is the perfect song for some occasions. It fits perfects with those grand adventures into the unknown. Listen to it on youtube or whatever when they played it during WWII and the men all joined in on the chorus. It is a song filled with hope for a better day in troubling times and it is perfect for those moments.

Remember that time when you opened up that shotgun or rifle your day got for you for those dove or deer hunts? It was yours. Your dad had faith in you and you couldn´t wait to show him how responsible you could be with it and go out with the men on their hunts. Even if it was one of the cheapest guns on the market it was the perfect gift at that moment.

Seeing your daughter in her wedding dress whether formal or not is a glowing moment. She couldn´t be more beautiful. And think of the relief you felt when you got her down the aisle without stepping on her dress.

"Your loan has been approved" and you knew you finally had that first house.

That first car you had and you actually held the keys in your hand. In spite of all the warnings and cautions from your parents you were on cloud nine and that car was a Rolls Royce to you.

A cool, crisp fall night with the harvet moon shining and they are playing the Star Spangled Banner, correctly, as you stand in the football stadium.

Remember those rare moments when all the jerks and tics accidently line up just right and your tee shot goes about 40 or 50 yards farther than you usually hit it.

You wake up one day and realize a life time has passed but she looks lovely to you and you love her as much as when you were a teenager. Her eyes still sparkle and her smile is as bright as the days of youth.

May you have many such moments and things in your life. Sometimes we only become aware of how perfect they were afterward. God Bless. www.olcranky.wordpress.com
