Wendy's Slumping Sales Due To Non Frozen Ground Beef

A story making news today,9/19/11, is about how the Wendy's hamburger corporation, which has been losing money on slumping sales of late and their efforts to boost sales by trying to reinvent some of their burgers. They blame McDonald's in particular, and other fast and semi casual restaurants for their declining sales.

What corporate heads at Wendy's really need to do is realize why other chains are beating them up so bad, by comparing their burgers with those of their competition.

The nucleus of their burgers such as what they have on them, the buns,condiments and the cooking method is no different from that of many other fast food chains. Thus, to spend millions of dollars researching new ways of preparation and presentation is a waste of time and money.

What Wendy's needs to concentrate on is the meat. The very ground beef which has never been frozen. The main product they pride themselves on, is what is losing money for them. In today's health oriented society, one would think having burgers made from ground beef which has never been frozen would be a good idea, but the exact opposite is true.


The worry about bacteria borne illness in meats never frozen, simply concerns customers to the point where they do not eat at Wendy's. Most people will take the safe route and eat at restaurants where meat is frozen until it is ordered.

Customers can tell the difference in burgers at Wendy's as compared to similar products elsewhere. At Wendy's, burgers always have a certain taste to them found no where else. This taste usually reminds people of stale meat, which although not spoiled or compromised otherwise, simply tastes as if it is. The best word to describe the taste of a Wendy's hamburger patty is "old".

If the Wendy's corporation is to survive they must heed the warning signs from the public and give them what they want, which is ground beef that has been flash frozen from the factory.
