When No One Hears

Tim Williams
Total shock and dismay keeps pushing the boundaries of astonishment of my bewilderment to why my country, the United States has regressed to a point of almost no return. Lest we forget that America was founded by four guiding principles. Liberty, Justice, Education, and Morality; These are the bases upon which our democracy was founded. Where are they today?

The United States is being led to the brink of implosion by corporate greed, elected officials ineptness, and our own apathy. For the past 40 years we have witnessed a steady decline an almost total evaporation of the ideals and principals that made the United States a leader among nations of the world. In doing so we are now faced with an uncertain future, a sociological and economic deterioration unparalleled in our history. Our direction as a nation is clouded in an uncertain future. Not only is financial crises hitting almost every family or business but a real concern of eminent disaster waiting to happen. Everywhere the under current of financial worries, social crises, and weakening patriotism is swelling. If we fail to act now this country and the rest of the world will be thrust into an era much worse than the 1930's. Will we continue to slide away from what our founding fathers envisioned, or will we emerge from the quandary that our government and major corporations have now put this country into? It is time to do what is right for America instead of what is good for any individual, candidate or elected official.

The recent report on just how far the United States has declined is very evident in the loss of stature in the global community. When we have fallen so far behind other nations economies is a real indication that America has gone in reverse for too long. With our federal and trade deficits beyond common comprehension, 60 million Americans still with-out health care, millions living from pay-check to pay-check, and millions more with non at all, more of our seniors are literally starving, one in four children live far below the poverty level, more people incarcerated than any other nation, and the threat of man induced terrorism remains unabated. These are just a few of the urgent crises facing our society today. No longer can we sit idle while our elected officials continually miss the boat.

From all the rhetoric coming out of our ''Wizards" in Washington have only exasperated the current economic, fiscal and social crisis this country is in. They have failed to grasp the lessons that history is supposed to teach us. Yet, we still are repeating the mistakes that were made in the past. So that today the United States is again at a critical juncture in how to regain all that was lost due to the similar set of circumstances but with new twists that unfolded some 80 years ago.

In 1933 Franklin Roosevelt realized that a strong foundation was needed to pull America out of the depression. Passage of the New Deal was crucial in bringing about lasting economic growth. As a nation the prospect of another depression if nothing is done will likely occur. Will we survive? Maybe! To do nothing or to borrow for short term relief is not the answer. Action is need now. It is our fundamental right, our obligation, and our duty to respond as a nation. Today what is needed to keep the United States out of further economic decline and to thwart another major catastrophe is National Economic Reform. National Economic Reform is similar in magnitude and scope to the New Deal, only updated for the 21st century. Eight articles that are all connected in away one will not succeed without the others. They are: Article One: Budget Deficit Elimination, Article Two: Universal Health Care, Article Three: Education Reform. Article Four: Social Security Restoration, Article Five: Trade Deficit Equalization. Article Six: Science and Technologies Implementation, Article Seven: Immigration and Homeland Security Reform, Article Eight: National Defense Initiative, Article Nine: Infrastructure Restoration, Article Ten: Renewable Energy Independence.

Establishing National Economic Reform is essential is restoring our nations credibility, achieving lasting economic growth, providing national security, and bringing about prosperity for all Americas. Our only hope lies with the eyes and ears of a population to realize that only reforming policies, repealing mandates and changing laws that helped create the current crisis we all face is now necessary, prudent and most warranted. Let's all hope we all hear that only National Economic Reform will pave the way for a much brighter future for us all.
