The FBI

According to the Washington Post, the FBI's Washington Field Office has started recruiting agents for a new anti-obscenity squad. The initiative is "one of the top priorities" of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales.

If you think the "War on Poverty" and the War on Drugs" were resounding failures -- you ain't seen nothing yet.

The "War on Porn", will be a losing battle, because even the soldiers fighting it, FBI agents, are probably consumers of pornography.

I'm not arguing that pornography is an honorable business, on the contrary, it objectifies and exploits women, but it's too ingrained in American culture to be wiped out. It's not unusual to see a young girl wearing a "Porn Star" T-Shirt.

When I was a teenager the only way I could view pornography was by stealing a copy of Hustler from a drugstore, now it's only a click of the mouse away.

Devotees of pornography no longer have to sneak into a dark theatre in the bad part of town to view porn flicks. Pornography is ubiquitous, it's available on pay-per-view TV, the Internet, 7-Eleven, hotel rooms, and it's even coming soon to your cell phone.

The typical consumer of pornography is not a bald middle-aged guy with furtive eyes, it's your mother, sister, uncle, daughter and son.

Porn stars are no longer considered social outcasts, they are mainstream celebrities, making guest appearances on your favorite TV shows

If I'm not mistaken Osama bin Laden is still on the loose, shouldn't the FBI be concentrating on the "War on Terrorism"?

Fighting porn should not be one of the main objectives of the FBI, if you find porn objectionable, then pass on those values to your children.
