Nepal's King New Year's message to the country

In his New Year's message to the country, King Gyanendra has expressed his appreciation towards the ongoing peace efforts.

In the message, King Gyanendra has also prayed for the success of the peace process while expressing his desire for the establishment of lasting peace through meaningful participation of all concerned.

"May the New Year accelerate the enthusiasm of the Nepali people in enhancing brotherhood, goodwill, harmony and unity, thereby strengthening the institutional development of democracy," the King said in the message.

Baisakh 1 (April 14 this year) marks the onset of New Nepali Year 2064 Bikram Sambat.

Beloved countrymen,

On the occasion of the New Year 2064, we would like to express our best wishes to all Nepalese within and outside the country.

It is also natural that, on the advent of this joyous occasion, we join our countrymen in expressing our desire for the establishment of lasting peace through meaningful participation of all concerned. Appreciating the ongoing peace efforts, we would like to pray for its noteworthy success.

May the New Year accelerate the enthusiasm of the Nepalese people in enhancing brotherhood, goodwill, harmony and unity according to our historic traditions, thereby strengthening the institutional development of democracy.
