So Much For The Death Of New Orleans
This is not to say there won’t be changes, the political faces of the city will change. New mayor, new city council, new police chief, these people will change. The cities political bosses will see to that. The corruption that follows the corruption that created this mess will pale by comparison. One thing a politician can’t keep their hands off is a no-bid government contract.
From the outset, I predicted a more rapid recovery for New Orleans than all the pundits on all the news outlets did. My confidence came from a knowledge of the city and it’s people. The average native Cajun’s spends half his or her life in and around water it doesn’t scare them. They celebrate hurricanes like they celebrate birthdays. It wasn’t hurricane Katrina who flooded New Orleans, it was Louisiana politics.
In the old day when corruption was treated as an art form, the Bosses knew how far to take it. They always left a little seed money for the next swindle. This modern day college boys and girl grafters have no concept of art of corruption. There was something to be said for the old ways, at least they were dignified.
Nothing will change, corruption, and an inept bureaucracy will prevail. Our Tax’s and voluntary contribution money wasted, with no one held accountable. President Bush will get the blame, congress will go their marry way leaving the president swinging in the winds created by the media.
Logic 101: There’s no way one man [the president] can possibly be aware of every detail of this governments business, nor should they. That’s why there’re Congressmen and Women, Cabinet Secretaries, Department Managers, they’re all charged with specific responsibilities. We the people elect, employee and otherwise engage them to be responsible for their share of running the government. The founding fathers created the position of president to lead the three branched of government, not to run roughshod over them. In order to lead one must have followers. Today’s liberal congress is more inclined to dispute presidents than to cooperate with them,
The public’s spent billions of dollars creating a nearly regal atmosphere for our governments working population. One would think that would be enough to soothe their egos. Not so, now they require a daily dose of media attention as their medication for their survival. There’s no truth without the polls telling them the truth.
How many times have the media and the polls been wrong? Yet liberals feast as though it were Thanksgiving at Grandmas house.
Can we blame the public for an inept bureaucracy, why not? It’s been said many times in many ways “We deserve the government we elect.”
