TNA: Professional wrestling has returned in America.
With no competition, the WWE was a joke compared to when it was known as the WWF, World Wrestling Federation. Hardcore matches with men putting their bodies on the line were replaced with Diva Searches in which untalented “women” would try to rub the sexual innuendo the right way with the WWE’s demographic. However, the adult males cried “boring” when the women in bikinis would strut their stuff and professional wrestling wasn’t the same, it was all about pushing the right buttons in the shock value and not having two wrestlers wrestle.
It just seemed the days of Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage were over, and instead replaced with insulting storylines like Vince McMahon’s son in law winning the belt all the time, a retard named Eugene who can out wrestle the best, old fossils like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan still wrestling, and a blonde bombshell with a major blemish problem. Wrestling was dead.
That is until fans in Orlando, Florida was given the distinct pleasure in witnessing TNA, Total Nonstop Action. Total Nonstop Action is what the hardcore wrestling fan has been craving for 5 years. TNA gives the fans great wrestling action with fresh stars like A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Monty Brown, along with familiar stars like Raven, Jeff Jarrett, and Jeff Hardy. TNA also gives a slight difference with the WWE that some fans love and hate, and that is the wrestling ring. While WWE has a four sided ring, TNA has a six sided ring in which gives for some great action that is fast paced. Personally, I like the ring, it’s something different than what wrestling fans are familiar with and it’s good for the X-division, which is an extreme version of wrestling.
TNA put on a pay-per-view recently called Unbreakable in which Rhino and Raven fought for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. I have been following wrestling for a long time, and I can say that the WWE dropped the ball on both of these guys. Raven and Rhino’s match was one of the top three matches of the night in which Raven came out victorious and Rhino was redeemed for his lackluster run with the WWE.
Monty Brown is defiantly someone the TNA should really push to a main event status, and TNA’s booking is smart enough to push Monty Brown in maybe becoming the next world champion. The good thing about TNA is that the wrestlers are there to make TNA great like Paul Heyman did with ECW. Loyalty to TNA and making the other wrestlers looking good is great for business, unlike WWE in which is a dog eat dog business with not very good pay unless your first name is Paul and your last name is Levesque.
A.J. Styles is TNA’s money maker. A.J. Styles is given the name phenomenal for a reason, because he is just that. The first time I watched A.J. wrestle was when FSN was hosting the Impact show. He was amazing. He was fast, agile, aggressive, and knew how to make an impact. He was Rob Van Dam and Bret Hart put together. I hope A.J. Styles is smart and stays far away from the WWE and Vince McMahon, because not only would his talent be watered-down, but his name would be raped and stripped into trademarked hell. A.J. stay away from the WWE, otherwise you’ll have a stupid gimmick and your career will be reduced down to Stephanie McMahon saying, “I’m sorry, we don’t have anything for you.”
Jeff Hardy’s star has never been brighter since his run with TNA. He has truly redeemed his mediocre run with the WWE and has become his own wrestler in TNA.
Christopher Daniels is my favorite wrestler in TNA right now, because he has the ring psychology and a character that is eerie enough to give the Undertaker a run for his money. While yes the Undertaker’s entrance is dark and grim, but it’s also dull and boring. Been there, done that. Christopher Daniels can cut it in the ring, he doesn’t need lightning and the ability to roll his eyes in the back of his head to impress the fans. That is what the fans want. A guy who only job is to walk to the ring, wrestle a great match, and give the fans goosebumps along the way.
The example of Daniels’ ability was the X-division triple threat match between A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe at TNA’s Unbreakable. If you didn’t see it, then you missed probably the best match EVER. It was incredible, and I knew why the X-division match was the main event. It clearly beat any WWE main event, including Bones Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels.
TNA doesn’t insult the fans’ intelligence by doing the same wrestling show week after week after week, it’s actually what professional wrestling is supposed to be, total nonstop action. TNA is unpredictable, unlike the WWE in which you can tell who is going to win the match before the wrestlers even make it to the ring.
TNA is also the only wrestling organization that makes familiar wrestlers look better than they ever did in any other organization. Sean Waltman is an example of this. When I watched “X-Pac”, which was Sean’s character name in the WWE, I was bored, insulted, and angry that he even had a job in wrestling, let alone wrestling for the WWE. However, when I watched him on TNA, I was surprised that he even had ability to wrestle instead of him constantly doing his outdated crotch chop yelling “suck it!”
While the WWE may be the number 1 professional wrestling company in America, it’s obvious that wrestling isn’t what they’re selling. However, if you’re a wrestling fan who loves unpredictable outcomes, great wrestling action, fresh faces, and not have your intelligence insulted by lousy gimmicks then TNA is what you’re looking for.
You can check out TNA on Spike on October 1st at 11pm. TNA’s next pay-per-view is Bound for Glory on October 23rd.
If you don’t believe me that TNA is a hundred times better than WWE, just watch an A.J. Styles match one time and you’ll be hooked. I promise you.
