We Deserve The Truth About Pat Tillman's Death

Robert Paul Reyes
President Bush doesn't have the temperament or qualifications to lead the Keystone Cops. Unfortunately, he is our commander-in-chief, and the result has been an unqualified disaster in Iraq and a quickly unraveling situation in Afghanistan.

We didn't find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and we let Osama get slip away in Afghanistan.

When Pat Tillman, an NFL star, gave up fame, wealth and adulation to be an Army Ranger, he became a poster boy for military recruiters. The war mongers envisioned Tillman as a propaganda windfall, but reality got in the way of their grandiose dreams.

You can't choreograph warfare; it's nasty, brutish and unpredictable. Common sense, morality and good intentions quickly get lost in the fog of war.

Pat Tillman was accidentally killed by members of the American military. That doesn't sound very noble or heroic, so the military reported that Tillman died on the battlefield fighting the enemy.

The truth eventually came out, but Tillman's family is still not satisfied that justice has been done. They want the unvarnished truth as well as an accounting from the generals responsible for perpetrating a lie.

The Tillman family as well as the American public deserves the truth not only in the particulars of Tillman's death, but in how the war in Iraq is going. But I guess Bush will never admit that the situation in Iraq is an ungodly disaster.
