Omega 3 Boosters: Are Shots Really the Answer?

Newly published research from the University of California at San Francisco indicates that omega 3 fatty acids may help protect against aging and even stall or dramatically delay the aging process. This is not really new news, but rather just more evidence. It has long been suspected that omega 3 fatty acids, commonly found in fatty fish oil like salmon oil, protect DNA chains associated with aging by virtue of anti-inflammatory properties. And when you protect the DNA, you stall the aging process to some degree.

However, what makes this particular area of omega 3 research of particular note is not just that omega 3 fish oil might be a fishy fountain of youth, but that some people are hoping to make up for lost time by taking omega 3 "booster shots" to help enhance their anti-aging efforts. While it is indisputable that this concept of "catching up" on omega 3 supplementation is attractive, you need to evaluate the decision carefully before opting for shots instead of a daily omega 3 regimen.

1. How will your body absorb the omega 3 fatty acids?


Generally omega 3 fatty acids are absorbed when they are consumed - either in the form of a capsule or by eating fatty fish like salmon. Can your body absorb them if they are injected?

Most omega 3s actually do not do much for you. It is only a few critical formations of this fatty acid that actually benefit your heart, mind, pscyhe and immune system. Will the shots contain these crucial molecular forms?

3. What are the side effects?

Some people cannot take omega 3 supplements or must take them in limited quantities due to blood clotting issues. What types of side effects might an omega 3 shot have?

While making up for past time may be tempting, we believe that at the present time, the best way to get your omega 3 fatty acids is with a daily dose of omega 3 fish oil. Starting now will help your body start to make up for the deficiency most individuals have when it comes to this essential nutrient.
