Do You Take Natural Nutritional Supplements?

Michael Byrd
Now I'm just guessing here, but I'm sure you'll agree that a person who goes out of their way to take natural nutritional supplements is someone with a real interest in their health. That just makes sense.

So why would someone who really cares about improving their health take supplements containing things like pond scum and pine bark? Well, the only logical answer is that they just don't know.

Now these supplements don't list pond scum and pine bark on the list of ingredients. Oh no, the marketers are smarter than that. Pond scum is listed by it's Latin name – dunaliella salina – and pine bark is listed as pycnogenol.

Behind The Deception

So how do they get away with calling these ingredients natural? Well, technically, they are natural. They're products of nature.

And, if the large corporations that make most supplements can get away with using inferior ingredients while still staying under the general category of "natural", they're going to do it. And you are the one that pays the price.

If these aren't the best ingredients, why do manufacturers use them? Well, although you wouldn't know it by the prices they charge, these ingredients are very cheap. That means the manufacturer makes a lot more money than if they used high quality, human food ingredients.

So what they're out there marketing as a "miracle cure" is actually just some repackaged waste products. It's going to make them a fortune and it's going to cost you - both in money and in your health.

You'll pay the price because these things were never meant for humans to eat. They're not part of the human food chain. And if your taking supplements to make up for the vitamins and minerals that are missing from your food, how are these "natural" ingredients going to help? Are you deficient in pond scum?

What Can You Do?

Manufacturers that make all natural health supplements should be able to back up all of their health claims with documented research. Ask them for it. And ask them for the sources of their ingredients. You have a right to know before you put that supplement into your body. It's time for you to get picky and refuse to be a victim of their slick marketing.

Remember not to be conned by the hype of ingredients you've never heard of. Look for supplements that have healthy human food source ingredients - such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables and species of fish you'd be happy to serve at your table. And one last thing, be sure your supplements are guaranteed to be free from toxins, heavy metals, pesticides and genetically modified organisms.
