BUSH, BECK & PALIN: ARE THEY ALL JUST "SOUR GRAPES" AT OBAMAīS VICTORY?
...George W. "The Ball-Spiker" Bush
President Obama says he wonīt release any of the photos of Osama bin Ladenīs corpse. The reason for this he said was, "We donīt trot out this stuff as trophies." He also said, "We donīt need to spike the football."
In general, I agree with this decision. But as we all know, our government needs oversight in many areas, especially those that have to do with national security. And in regards to a situation that caused America to go into two foreign wars, both of which were very expensive in human treasures and the taxpayers money, I still think that at least a third party group should review the photos and the evidence.
For those reasons, I would have felt better if the White House would have selected a bipartisan group of individuals to review the pictures and reported on confirming what has been reported to date.
But getting back to the comment saying that as Americans, we donīt do things such as "ball-spiking" and trotting out "trophies". That comment would have held no water regarding the previous administration.
Letīs not forget the spectacle of President George W. Bush landing on the deck of the aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, and prematurely standing under the "Mission Accomplished" banner. I say "prematurely" as obviously the mission still hasnīt been completely accomplished 8 years and thousands of lives and billions of dollars later, as of this month.
Please also remember, that it was President Bushīs team that trotted out the pictures of the dead sons of Saddam Hussein as if they were showing off the prize winning big mouth bass from a fishing derby.
And as to going after Osama bin Laden, back in 2001, the Bush Administration sent out a CIA team with the instructions to bring back the al Qaeda insurgentsī heads "on a spike" and to "bring back bin Ladenīs head in a box of dry ice". Unfortunately, Bush didnīt even give the team the tools they needed to accomplish the mission. And where in those barren Afghani hills of Tora-Bora were they expected to get dry ice ..?
Had they succeeded, not only would the George Bush administration have "spiked the football," they would have done a flying chest-bump, performed an end zone dance, and jumped into the stands.
But in reality, the Bush administration never did and never would have caught Osama bin Laden.
Bush needed his "Boogey-Man" to stay alive and un-captured for keeping his position as an American "war-time president". For that reason alone, thereīs no point in discussing what the previous administrationīs reaction might have been.
Then thereīs Sarah Palin, the previous ― governor of Alaska,.
Sarahīs position is that we should publish the death photos. Sarah has tweeted "Show photo as warning to others seeking Americaīs destruction. No pussy-footing around, no politicking, no drama; itīs part of the mission." Yeah Sarah, you tell the president how to do his job!
As was stated by the progressive talk-show host Randi Rhodes, regarding Sarah Palinīs tweet: "Wow, itīs hard to pack so much stupid into 140 characters. No pussy-footing! Yeah, Mr. President. Donīt get all namby pamby after you just took down the most dangerous man in the world, OK? I love how Sarah says that putting out the photos is "part of the mission." [Sarah] I donīt think you had any input when it came to defining this mission. And Iīm not sure Sarah Palin could have pulled this mission off, if her attempts at killing that caribou on her reality TV show are any indication."
This week, President Obama traveled to Ground Zero to honor the victims of Osama bin Laden. And as expected, the right-wing radio talker, Glenn Beck, said that President Obama was "taking a victory lap in New York". Beck went on to described President Obamaīs laying the wreath at ground zero as "crass and obscene."
Actually, as per Ms. Rhodes, "Glenn Beck is the one who put the īassī in īcrassī."
Remember, Beck is also the guy who launched the "9/12 Project" so that we could supposedly feel the same unity we did on the day after the attacks of 9/11. This just proves that Glenn Beck makes a mockery of himself even better than he mocks anything else.
And now, George Bush has reportedly said he also feels that President Obama was taking a "victory lap" in the aftermath of the operation to get bin Laden. Sorry George, youīre way off-base. This is coming from a man that took a victory lap and claimed "Mission Accomplished" when he hadnīt even come close to completing a lap, let alone getting a real victory.
Itīs amazing that after all the years of failure by the Bush administration in getting Americaīs "Public Enemy #1", they have the gall to criticize the man that took the risk to do what was right and that worked. And he did it while getting a treasure trove of usable evidence against al Qaeda operations all around the world.
I guess I should not expect any positive reactions from the group that got us into this mess in the first place.
