Climate Change - The Altruist’s Dream

The ingredients for an altruist to fulfill his or her dream of moral perfection are contained in the causes they ascribe to. First of all there must be an underdog, a victim, an “underprivileged, i.e someone or something that will elicit sympathy. Whether that be a an animal, an oppressed population, or an oncoming disaster that will create millions of distressed . People, animals, the environment needing help, the strategy for being “Johnny on the spot” to avert or reconstruct ( via government money ,of course ) points to the champion of the underdog, the benefactor that redistributes, the altruist ,usually in the role of a politician.

Global Warming or as is now more politically neutral , Climate Change, is now a hot button for those convinced there is fame and power to be gained by this scare tactic. The fascination that power over the world will be necessary for the implementation of all the regulations and revenue that will be needed is too much for the ambitious altruist to ignore. Saving the world, especially those too ignorant to be aware of the danger is a revisit of the philosopher-king bunk of Plato. Only the chosen can rule and these chosen are those wiling to ascribe to of all things a” weather scare”.

You will notice the battle has focused on the poor underdeveloped nations who will need massive amounts of aid to ward off drought and rising levels of oceans and famine. Now the fact that many of these third world countries have undergone periodic droughts for centuries and are restricted by their governments from innovating and producing under a constitution that protects individual rights seems to evade the altruist’s concern. For you see if freedom were allowed to work and individual enterprise allowed to innovate utilizing capital and technology, which happens in the most free countries of the world, there would be no raging concern with impending disaster, no underclass to “help” and no need for a powerful ruler to oversee that all regulations and restrictions were enforced, Money for enforcement could not confiscated and political favors granted. In short the existence of dependency would vanish and with it the “need” for the benevolent ruler.

Before global climate change came on the scene there was no opportunity to cast such a broad altruistic net. The old altruists could only inflict their rule by conquest. The new altruists have seen another road of opportunity to fulfill their dream. Use the old sales ploy that identifies a crisis ( remember Professor Howard Hill in the Music Man), then offer a solution to the crisis and with all the flimflam of a global carny get gullible people to accept the idea that you have the solution that has to come from power and taxation and political regulation. Think of it. What good is it to be a leader of a country if you can command a position of power that affects all countries? Since power and altruism are intimate partners this approach is a natural. Snake oil in the form of impending disaster can’t be proven until it occurs and by then no one who promoted this scheme will be around to take credit or blame. Lying about the future is a perfect cover. Until the disaster arrives ( sort of like the end of the world that has been predicted with the same motivation ). All followers gladly comply thinking they are doing what is best for all.

These scams have been around as long as man and still there are those who think they will get a piece of the action if they string along. They too will be a soldier in the crusade to save the world from the men who scoff at the predictions and go on with their daily living ignoring the vision of the prophets of doom. Sure there are glaciers melting. They melted after the last ice age and for those living in Minnesota it’s a good thing they did. Ten thousand lakes is far better that ten thousand glaciers for walleye fishing. Weather is a trendy and unpredictable ( regardless of trained meteorologists) beyond tomorrow but to predict into the far distant decades is as presumptuous as assuming Bill Clinton must be honest because both he and George Washington were presidents.

The motivation by the climate change advocates ( have you ever observed climate not to change?), is a selfless sacrificial effort and in true altruist fashion requires further selflessness and sacrifice by as many as can be cajoled into swallowing the greater than self vision of the “ really important” issue of the day. In Soviet Russia it was the classless society and the withering away of the state. A promise that could not be fulfilled and was a scam to give political power to some to oversee this transformation. Notice any similarities? Only the experts, i.e. the chosen, can figure out how and when to avert this disaster. LIke the watch dog that never allows elephants to enter a yard in New Jersey the new altruists will claim, “See there climate change is under control because you have willingly allowed us ( via your taxes and agreement ) to build a shrine for our officials , hire enforcement goons and you should be grateful because we had the foresight to save your lives”.

Yeh right. And what evidence is there that your efforts impacted disaster occurences? There still have been earthquakes , tornados, floods, heat waves, cold spells and hurricanes. Claiming they could have been worse is unprovable, but it certainly gives the altruist cover for the rationalization that the efforts derived from multiple sacrifices was not wasted. And thus another scam is born and perpetually continued until there is a recognition that the sleazes are up to their old tricks and relying on a gullible public to continue the scam. Sort of like the United Nations. Think of the vast wars and human rights violations we would see if not for the body of nations that oversees such issues!

There is one thing the altruists count on that the paying public hasn’t caught on to. This is the motivation aspect of those who pursue such deception. It was no accident that “ An Inconvenient Truth” showed a despondent Al Gore lamenting the election of 2000. This image tells the whole story of the drive for being the guru of climate change. But this blatant confession was not seen as an exposure of the power lust fulfillment that was denied to him, but as something that should arouse sympathy. You see feeling sorry for someone is the fodder of altruism. There are people one can genuinely feel sorry for. Al Gore isn’t one of them. The Howard Hill of climate change should be run out of town on a rail. His version of what can be only includes an expansion of political power and the spread of altruistic venom world wide. He has given the altruists a global dream that they are rapidly latching onto for they recognize the method and the vision. It can only succeed if accepted on faith. It cannot withstand critical review.
