Social media users prompt PODS Moving and Storage to provide North Carolina disaster relief

(Clearwater, Fla.) April 20, 2011 – The power of social media was evident this week as droves of people flooded to Facebook and Twitter encouraging PODS to provide storage containers to areas hit hard by recent tornadoes in North Carolina.

The overwhelming amount of messages and wall posts generated through social media channels prompted PODS to take immediate action in support of victims of the recent tornadoes that devastated North Carolina and caused damage in five other states on Saturday, April 16th.

PODS has always been there when disasters strike the communities we serve," said George Spowart, PODS vice president of marketing. "The recent events in North Carolina demonstrate how social media allows us to be even more responsive to the needs of our customers."

PODS has donated storage containers to Bertie County Emergency Management to house emergency supplies and provide storage for affected victims to keep their belongings secure.

For more information on how you can support the victims of the tornadoes, contact the Bertie County Emergency Management offices at 252-794-5302.
