Low levels of neurotransmitters are reported to produce symptoms including, accelerated appetite, mood swings and sleep irregularities.

The reduced daylight during the colder months can result in depression. A typical human repsonse to this depression is, to boost energy levels and emotions by eating foods high in carbohydrates. Think chocolate candy, chips and pies. These foods send a rush of sugar to the blood. Unfortunately these foods contain high levels of fats. So people who feel low in the winter typically binge or eat the wrong foods. This results in weight gain, and increasing the level of depression!


The simplest way to break free of this habit is to look for healthier carbohydrate containing foods. This will satisfy your pangs. So you must opt for carbohydrates with low fat content and plenty of fiber. Think, potatoes, wholegrain bread without butter, wholegrain rice, cereals, and fresh whole fruit.

Also remember take more exercise. Everyones physical activity levels drop in the winter and there is a real tendency to just pile on layers of warm clothing and snuggle up somewhere indoors.. This is only natural when it is cold outside. But come on, we are living in the 21st century, we have good heating facilities and we know for sure we know that the grocery store will be well stocked come Spring. So, please do not fool yourself, you do not need to store fat during winter. So hit the gym ,get some equipment for the den or a fitness dvd

Burn those carbs into energy during winter instead of growing love handles that you will be disgusted by come Spring. Winter weight gain is easily squashed this way.
