A New Feminist-Friendly Version Of The Koran?

Robert Paul Reyes
Many folks desperately cling to their faith, even when logic, common sense and the facts prove that their religion works against their self interests.

Case in point, this Reuters story about Muslim feminists (oxymoron?), who are behind an English-version of the Koran that seeks to soften the holy book's misogynist teachings.

From Reuters:

"A new English-language interpretation of the Muslim Holy book the Koran challenges the use of words that feminists say have been used to justify the abuse of Islamic women.

The new version, translated by an Iranian-American, will be published in April and comes after Muslim feminists from around the world gathered in New York last November and vowed to create the first women's council to interpret the Koran and make the religion more friendly toward women."

Seeking to make the Koran woman-friendly is akin to assaying to make "Mein Kampf" Zionist-friendly. Go to any country that lives under Sharia law, and women are treated like chattel. The Koran is inherently anti-female, and only a fool would pretend otherwise.

Feminists would be well advised not to seek validation from religious texts that were written eons ago.

Feminists in this country should eschew the Bible, and instead rely on the Constitution for equal rights protection. The Bible also takes a very dim of women's rights.
