Anti-Hillary Clinton "1984 Video" A Work Of Art
Now it's my turn to pontificate on the matter; I see it as the democratization of American politics. In this age of YouTube and MySpace you don't need a multi-million dollar budget to create a political ad that will be seen by millions. All you need is an inexpensive Web cam, a few minutes to spare, a fertile imagination and you can create and post your own political ad on YouTube. With any luck it will spread like a virus on the Internet; an inexpensive way to influence the electorate.
Some pundits argue that anonymous political advertisements posted on the Internet can't be held up to any standard of fairness and accountability. So What? People ain't stupid, we know that someone hiding behind a screen name isn't going to post a Pulitzer-worthy advertisement.
The anti-Hillary 1984 video was effective because we can imagine Hillary as Big Brother. The same ad would not have worked with Obama as Big Brother -- he is too decent of a human being.
The ad was also effective because it made us feel good. When that javelin destroyed Hillary's likeness and put an abrupt end to her jarring monotone, I almost shed a tear of joy.
If Hillary wins the Democratic nomination, I will do everything within my power to make sure she doesn't win the general election. I will create my own anti-Hillary ad that will make the 1984 video look like a Hillary love fest.
