Global Warming Is Real

Gordon K. Glatz
I am writing this article in response to an article by Mark Lowry, March 17, 2007 entitled, "The Great Global Warming Swindle (Complete) BBC Commentary"

There are millions of web sites, that have good and bad information, and it is hard to know what is true. But when it comes to understanding the causes of problems involving our environment, it would help if you had an understanding of proven scientific principles, and a logical mind.

CO2 is caused by burning, and comes from many sources, natural ones like forest fires, animals breathing, and from our burning of fossil fuels.

The clouds are not our protection from solar activity. The Van Allen Belts, and the Earths Magnetic Field screens out most harmful radiation, together with earths Ozone Layer. Clouds do not cover the earth, there are large areas of clear skies, where they very seldom get any cloud cover, like the vast deserts of the world. Clouds mainly serve to distribute moisture over the land.

Life on earth depends on the interaction between plants and animals. Plants clean the air by using the carbon, and return Oxygen, which we use for breathing.

Humans have destroyed the balance of nature, by cutting down so many of the forests for the wood we use. That and forest fires has greatly reduced the amount of Oxygen returning to the air. Even the ocean plankton which also added Oxygen to the air, has been reduced by the pollution of the ocean by man.

Back when I was a boy in school the books said that the air was 40% Oxygen, and 60% Nitrogen. In 1995, I had the occasion to see a new class book, when my son was helping a neighbor kid with his home work. In his book the air was composed of 20% Oxygen and 80% Nitrogen. The Oxygen had reduced by half in 40 years. If this keeps up we will soon be unable to breath.

Every thing that goes up into the air and remains there for long periods of time serves as a reflection barrier for heat, reflecting the heat back to the ground, much like the dirty glass of a green house. The glass allows the light and heat to enter, but not leave.

The population has grown to 6 billion people, and that means that food producing animals have increased also. All of which use the resources of the planet, and add Co2. That and other pollution caused by our inventive brains producing products for our health, comfort, and entertainment are causing our sickness, breathing problems, and Global Warming. Which could eventually bring the demise of our selfs, and this beautiful planet if we don't do something about it.
