Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 3.13.07

Thomas Keister
With not only Kliff Hanger squaring off with Vic the Bruiser in a rematch for the CCW Heavyweight title that the Black Redneck had to wheel and deal overtime, much to Vic's expense, to gain, but a big-time tag team collision with CCW Tag Team Champions The Fat N The Furious meeting "Smooth" Johnny Spade and The Prophet, it was small wonder the summer-like temperatures brought the fans in droves, as it was standing room only in no time flat.

Commissioner Chris Alexander opened up the show introducing the returning Miss Holly Wood, brought out in a wheelchair by "Smooth" Johnny Spade. Still feeling the effects from the brutal attack at the hands of Jack Black, Vito Andretti, and Mickey O'Dell a couple of weeks ago, Holly said she would be in Spade and Prophet's corner tonight, drawing concerned looks from both men, Alexander, and the fans alike! It clearly seemed the consensus was it would be in her best interest to take another couple of weeks off!

Going over the remainder of tonight's show, Alexander would soon be interrupted by the music of none other than Dynamite Derrick, this time accompanied by a stranger with a briefcase! Ignoring the commissioner's admonishment, Derrick also called for Marcus to come out to the ring, at which point he introduced his lawyer, Paul Issacs, who then served Chris and Marcus with papers! It seems the Old School Player is backing up his promise to make someone "pay" for his injuries and his absence!

Saving a surprise of his own for Derrick, Marcus said that was fine, as he had been in contact with Derrick's doctor, and the fact of the matter is that Derrick is cleared to compete, and that is exactly what he would be doing tonight! Chris Alexander, already foaming at the mouth over the former CCW Champ's actions, was more than ready to step up and welcome Derrick back to the ring, as his opponent! Taking one last shot at Derrick, this one knocking him from the ring, Alexander informed him, as well as the crowd, that he was going to "remind everybody" just who Chris Alexander is!

Bad Medicine #6 (w/Tim the Baker) vs. Chris Chaos: The ever-present Tim the Baker was back, leading Bad Medicine into the arena for one-on-one action with Chris Chaos, an exciting newcomer to Classic Championship Wrestling who is definitely on the lookout to bolster his place in the rankings.

With both men being roughly the same size and build, neither could draw much in the way of an advantage early on, but Chaos would soon solve that, taking a page from the catch-as-catch-can playbook to take the masked man to the canvas, floating around into a front facelock. #6 seemed game, putting up a good defense, but Chaos was right back on him with a deep standing side headlock. #6 may have though he was a step ahead of his opponent with a big shoulder block, but Chaos was just a hip toss and an arm drag away from being in total control. Going to the well one time too many, however, Chaos would miss a third dropkick in a row, opening a window for #6 to mount some offense. Using an assortment of kicks and chokes, #6 may have been pushing his luck with referee Paul Wood, but he was looking strong while doing it, given the rocky start to this match-up. Keeping the attack relentless, #6 concentrated on wearing Chaos down and taking the edge off the speed and agility he brings to each of his matches.

Ducking a charge from #6, Chaos began fighting out of the corner, landing solid rights an an Inziguri kick to level his masked opposition, which brought Tim the Baker to the apron, but Chaos did not plan on going home empty-handed, scoring the pin on Bad Medicine #6 after planting the big man on his face with a spinning neckbreaker-style move.

Winner of the Match: Chris Chaos, by pinfall

Biff Wellington III, Nic Noble, and Jebediah Blackhawk vs. Apollo, Guido Andretti (w/Tim the Baker), and Tommy "T-Dogg" Foreman: Six-man tag team action was on the menu next, as the ingredients were right for an old-fashioned donnybrook! Referee Paul Wood has been around the block a few times, and it's a good thing, as he had his hands full right from the word 'go!'

Smacking BW3 in the back of the head and distracting him, Guido Andretti allowed Foreman to jump start the match, attacking the frat packer from behind! Having none of that, Wellington lashed back with chops and right hands, taking Foreman into his corner, where Noble and Blackhawk kept the train rolling, leaving the erstwhile 'relative' of George Foreman wobblin' and staggerin'! Tagging back in, BW3 was having fun while hitting on all cylinders, scoring the world-famous and always crowd pleasing Ole! kick before tagging in Noble to further the damage!

A with a matter of fortuitous timing, it was then Noble's turn for the grinder, as Apollo and Guido would go to work on Noble, softening up his left knee after Foreman hit a chop block to escape to the corner and bring his team back into the match!

After receiving half of the beatdown catalog, Noble rocked Foreman with punches, managing to make the tag to Wellington! Clearing house briefly, soon all six men were in the ring as BW3 threw Foreman to Blackhawk for a huge chokeslam, but as Paul Wood was trying to restore order with Apollo, Andretti, Noble, and Wellington, who were brawling on the outside, The Regulator hit ringside, still slinged up from his recent shoulder injury, drawing Jeb's attention away from action for just a split second, which was all Foreman needed to hit a low blow, rolling up the big man for the upset pin and the victory for his team! Blackhawk is fuming now, as not only has Regulator been stalking him in recent weeks, but now costing him wins in addition to attacking his tag team partners!

Winners of the Match: Apollo, Guido Andretti, and Tommy "T-Dogg" Foreman, by pinfall

Elmore Fudd (w/Mrs. Elma Fudd) vs. Matt Maverick: While this was originally scheduled as a Triple Threat match, a sudden illness prevented Lincoln Walker from making the CCW Arena tonight. Not that I am trying to start any rumors, but with the scheming and plotting the Fudds have been doing as of late, maybe there was more to his absence that meets the eye...I'm just saying. At ringside, this time with her own chair, Mrs. Fudd continues to "limp" around, even though she has already blown that "excuse" with her interference last week!

Taking Maverick hold for hold, Fudd was looking to keep his momentum going in the face of recent adversity (even though it's largely his own fault), and doing a good job, putting on a strong showing in the beginning stages of this match. Using his usual methodical pace, Fudd was thinking a move and a half ahead, keeping Maverick off balance. Missing a middle rope forearm, Maverick may have thought he was seeing the silver lining in the clouds, but before he could capitalize, Fudd was outside the ring, trying to grab, of all things to use as a weapon, a mop! As we have seen in recent weeks, once again, Matt Maverick would fall victim to the underhanded tactics by the Fudds, as Elma slid into the ring as referee Jeremy MacKenzie tried to stop Elmore, blasting Maverick with the very chair she was sitting on, leading to the pin by Elmore! Matt Maverick must have been feeling sick by this point as well, as Fudd continues to sneak them by the young star.

For the Fudds, though, time is running out until Maverick and Lincoln Walker get another chance at revenge, when the tag team match goes down as planned! Between now and then, it will be interesting to see what the two of them can come up with to get around this latest roadblock!

Winner of the Match: Elmore Fudd, by pinfall

Dynamite Derrick vs. Chris Alexander: Alexander wasted little time in taking it to Dynamite Derrick. These two men have had nothing but animosity since Derrick's change of heart last August, and with Derrick's lawsuit seemingly in the wings, Alexander had plenty of frustration to work out of his system! A quick-thinking Derrick, however, baited Alexander in a chase around the ring, scoring with a shot upon the commissioner's return to the ring! Not staying down for a second, Alexander zeroed in like a laser on the still-tender shoulder of the Old School Player, battering Derrick until a textbook spinebuster from out of left field put him right back into the thick of things. Going back to the tactics that took him to the top, Derrick choked away on Alexander before he rebounded to gain a two-count on Derrick with a sunset flip!

Battling away, Derrick mounted the ropes, but missed a huge cross body block, leaving both men struggling to regain his bearings as the match wore on. Rounding third and thinking of home, Alexander landed clothesline and a hard body slam for another near fall. Driving Alexander into the corner, Derrick would also inadvertently take out referee Paul Wood! Alexander would hit the Gender Bender to KO Derrick, but to no avail as Wood remained down in the corner! Coming back from the edge of defeat, Derrick missed his first attempt, but found paydirt the second time around with the Supa Playa Kick, this time snagging the three count just as Wood recovered!

While Dynamite Derrick may have outsmarted himself in landing in a tough match tonight against Chris Alexander, The Old School Player pulled it out in the end, although the timing may have been on his side just a bit. What will he have for Alexander and Marcus next week, and what will they have up their sleeves as this controversy continues to unfold?

Winner of the Match: Dynamite Derrick, by pinfall

"Smooth" Johnny Spade (w/Miss Holly Wood) & The Prophet vs. CCW Tag Team Champions The Fat N The Furious (Jack Black & Guido Andretti), with Mickey O'Dell: With their combined popularity with the fans, it was not hard at all to figure who the CCW faithful were backing in this big time tag team showdown, as "Smooth" Johnny Spade and The Prophet hit the ring looking to stop O'Dell Enterprises and their newly aggressive game plan in CCW. Although Miss Holly Wood said she was going to be at ringside, at the onset of the match, she was still backstage, leading those in attendance to assume that Spade and Prophet may have convinced her this was not going to be the safest atmosphere for her tonight.

As Mickey O'Dell led the CCW Tag Team Champions to the ring, the crowd remains merciless to the former Portland favorites, especially as they make it a point to announce they are not hailing from Portland in Louisville anymore! The tension was almost obscuring the lights in the CCW Arena as Spade surveyed The Fat N The Furious, thinking back to the betrayal by Vito Andretti as part of the comeback plot for Mickey O'Dell! Also accompanying O'Dell, Black, and Andretti was Damien Divine, as instrumental as anyone in the shocking events that went down two weeks ago. giving them even more of a numbers advantage than usual.

Andretti opened the match demanding referee Jeremy MacKenzie check both Spade and Prophet thoroughly before calling for the bell. On the outside of the ring, O'Dell had the air of a man who had strategized this match down to the very second, and with the reputation the FNF's shrewd manager already enjoys, that was more than a safe bet! Hitting a back elbow, and then snapmaring Andretti to set up for a hard kick to the spine, Spade would give chase, blistering Vito with a chop before taking the fight back to the ring, tagging in The Prophet. The two big men would trade punches before bad timing found him in the champs' corner! Black would use the location to his advantage, crushing Prophet with a splash after Mickey O'Dell scored a direct hit with a mysterious object he had in his briefcase, following that up with a rear chinlock to further drive Prophet to expend energy.

The fans would try to rally Prophet back into the match, which he would with some big right hands before Black stopped him cold, tagging Vito back into action. At this point, even the best of intentions could not overcome the concerns of "Smooth" Johnny Spade, as Miss Holly Wood, still in a wheelchair from the damage inflicted on her at the hands of not only Vic the Bruiser, but the Fat N The Furious as well, rolled herself out to the ringside area! This may have served detrimental to the challengers, as Spade was now splitting his attention between Prophet being battered in the ring, as Jack Black and Damien Divine took turns stalking Miss Holly Wood!

Dumping Prophet outside, O'Dell and Divine would take their shots, rolling him back in for an arrogant 'one foot' pin attempt by Vito. Fighting out with a shower of chops, Prophet was drawing on every last scrap of resilience, but Vito ducked a clothesline, coming back off the ropes to nail the big man with a spear! Spade would try to enter the ring, but MacKenzie was there to cut him off, and as this was going down, Black flattened Prophet with a simple sit out! Moving him into the corner, Black would get the tables turned on him, as Prophet would reverse him in the corner, mounting the middle rope to deliver a flurry of punches, but Black was still far too powerful, driving Prophet to the canvas. Trying everything at his disposal to fight off both men, Prophet was running on steam when out of nowhere Black devastated him with the BlackOut!

Andretti re-entered action, but a missed top rope headbutt, however, would be the break in the clouds Spade, beside himself waiting to get into this match, was waiting for! As order broke down, O'Dell would use the chaos to launch his master plan for the match! Grabbing a towel and a bottle from his briefcase, O'Dell soaked the towel before hitting the ring to smother Spade with it, knocking him out with what could only be chloroform! Vito would then score the pin, taking the win for The Fat N The Furious and O'Dell Enterprises!

It came as little surprise when O'Dell and his men continued the assault after the bell, even going so far as to hurl the still-recovering Miss Holly Wood into the ring for a repeat performance from two weeks ago, as Black would hit the top rope splash on Holly, held stretched out by Vito and O'Dell! As stars flooded from the back to try and stop the attack, being held at bay by the four men, a livid Chris Alexander stormed from the back and laid the law down! He said he wasn't playing when he warned them about their actions as of late, and based on tonight, they are "out of there!" The CCW Tag Team Champions are gone?! Clearly shocked, the FNF, O'Dell, and Damien Divine headed toward the back to regroup, but not before O'Dell swore this was not over, threatening to bring in his daddy's lawyers! While I'm sure the last thing Chris Alexander needed to hear was anything about more lawyers, some form of action had to be taken with the increasingly out of control O'Dell Enterprises and The Fat N The Furious!

Winners of the Match: CCW Tag Team Champions The Fat N The Furious, by pinfall

Main Event - CCW Championship: CCW Heavyweight Champion Vic The Bruiser vs. Kliff Hanger: It was his night at last, as Kliff Hanger was finally getting his shot at the Classic Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Title around the waist of Vic The Bruiser, who was still suffering a bit of bruised ego from his shocking loss last week to Brandon Scott, engineered in large part by The Black Redneck himself! Taking a page from Kliff Hanger's book, Vic even came to the ring sporting a rebel flag dewrag!

Never one to start a match until he was absolutely ready, Vic took some time to reflect on his challenger, and his wife and kids, who were in the front row at the CCW Arena for this huge opportunity for Kliff Hanger! Berating them and calling them half the names in the book, Vic promised to make it a memorable night for them, as he kicked Kliff's ass!

Finally, Kliff could simply not take Vic's trash talk anymore, attacking him outside the ring, and then taking him pillar to post with chops, kicks, splashes, and arm drags. Vic would mount some offense early, but it was still all Kliff Hanger in the early goings, wrestling like a man possessed for the first five to ten minutes, even scoring a last-second two count with a big neckbreaker!

Vic found his opening, however, and proceeded to go to work on Kliff, stomping away, punching away, dropping away, taking any which away he could ge this hands on to put the hurting on the challenger! Using a back body drop followed up with an elbow, Vic would gain the first of several near falls on Kliff, although his patience started wearing thin after several kick outs by his opponent. Resorting to chokes, Vic pushed referee Jeremy MacKenzie to the limits before grabbing a ringside microphone to offer Kliff a way out! Telling Kliff all he had to do to make it stop was leave the ring, taking extra time to throw in some more choice remarks about his wife and kids at ringside!

Sneaking up on Vic, Kliff scored a two count on a roll-up, igniting a comeback in which he would not only score another near fall, but nearly connect with The Blond Bomb, Vic's finisher! Choking him on the ropes for a taste of his own medicine, Kliff would work the champ into the corner, climbing to the middle rope to rain down punches. Vic, to steal a line, dabbles in foreign objects the way the masters dabbled in oils, stopping Kliff cold with a cheap shot, taking the pin and the match in quick fashion!

After the bell, Vic sent the fans into a frenzy by grabbing a noose from the back and returning to the ring! Continuing his verbal assault on Kliff, his family, and the CCW faithful, Vic strung Kliff up, hanging him over the top rope! Brandon Scott hit the ring to make the save, battling a shocked Vic from the ring. Not slowing him down much, Vic would take it to his fallen opponent with a chair, issuing a stern warning to Scott, telling him to look at what Kliff got, 'cause there was plenty left for him!

Winner of the Match: and still CCW Heavyweight Champion, Vic The Bruiser, by pinfall

With Vic obviously setting his sights on young Brandon Scott next, the fans of CCW have no end to the questions they have to be asking themselves right now. What is the state of Miss Holly Wood, and what will come of Mickey O'Dell and The Fat N The Furious? With lawyers coming out of the woodworks, how will Chris Alexander manage to maintain order? How will The Regulator strike Jebediah Blackhawk next, and what will The Fudds come up with as their big tag team match against Matt Maverick and Lincoln Walker is now just a week away? The only answers can be provided by staying tuned to this column, or better yet, by attending the Tuesday night tradition, Classic Championship Wrestling!
