John Couey And The Right To A Speedy Death

Stan Grimes
John Couey's jury recommended the death penalty. Sorry, death is too good for him. What could be worse for him? Feed him to the prison population. Let them feast on his sorry bones. Give him to Mr. Lunsford. I think Mark would gladly take care of him in short order. Instead, we (the over-taxed citizens) will give him a warm cell, a hundred appeals, and a nice meal before he dies instantly. Not bad for a sick, murdering pervert. Whatever happened to a speedy trial and all that rot (it took a year to get this guy convicted)?

We give the worst sort of ilk in our culture more than we give our poor, our homeless, and our aging. What's wrong with this picture? You tell me. We can't keep our borders from overflowing, our young men from being sacrificed on the battlefield, or our aging population supplied with healthcare. We have a president with an arrogant and inept staff, who trumped up reasons to send our country into a tailspin. Have I lost my senses? Am I hallucinating? Just tell me I'll seek help.

Not everyone in this great country gets three meals a day, a hot shower, and warm blankets. Want to get off the streets? Commit a crime, a heinous crime at that, and you'll get to spend some time exercising, watching television, and maybe get a college degree…all in the name of rehabilitation. That's more than our unemployed citizens get. Oh, and yes lucky murderers get an instant death. I have seen hundreds of nursing home patients, who everyday pray for death, instant death, instead of suffering in their own feces and being fed pureed pizza. Tell me the justice.

We have the battle between Right-To-Life and the Pro-Choice factions. What about the right to a speedy death? Shouldn't an old person be able to decide when they want to die? No sir, we can't even consider that as legal. We don't even consider it as a possible discussion. Instead, we hide behind our morals and our invented God to declare it as immoral and illegal. After all, we can't play god now can we? We leave the tough decisions to "Him." Apparently we have no one on this planet capable of making such decisions. We certainly are a weak lot.
