UFOs: Colonel John B. Alexander confirms secretive 'flying saucer' research

(PsycheLeaks.org) -- Rumors of a secretive government investigation into UFO phenomena have been around for decades. In 2006, STARstream Research issued a press release, confirming the existence of what had been called the UFO Working Group.
Now, with the publication of his new book, UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities, Colonel John B. Alexander (retired) has gone on the record, verifying information previously reported by STARpod.org.
According to Colonel Alexander's testimony, "With help from a few other researchers we initiated the ATP (Advanced Theoretical Physics) project specifically to examine issues regarding UFOs, and what role the Department of Defense (DoD) might be playing...This was a small internal group drawn from the government and aerospace industry, all of whom were interested in the topic."
In 2007, the STARstream Research Press Release reported:
According to STARstream Research founder Gary S. Bekkum, "No one has actually confirmed the existence of an alien invasion, but sources suggest high ranking figures in the intelligence community, including former Directors of Central Intelligence, have discussed this issue, at least in private." Bekkum added, "We have also confirmed the existence of a Working Group on UFO´s, the same group first reported by Howard Blum in his book, ´Out There´. We have an audio recording on file of a former CIA official stating that he had attended the first meeting of the working group in the 1980´s." An associate of STARstream Research verified that the voice on the tape was most likely the same Senior Intelligence Official she had been introduced to at a private meeting in Washington, D.C. in 2006. Explanations provided for the existence of the original working group include radar anomalies known as "Fastwalkers," which are sometimes ignored as noise in signal traces.
According to John B. Alexander, "To run this meeting [of the UFO ATP group] I contacted [former head of Army intelligence] Stubblebine, who could get us access to one of BDM's SCIFs [a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility]...I adopted the term advanced theoretical physics, assuming no one would make the [UFO] connection and [FOIA] request ATP reports."
During her investigation of UFO tales spread by former US government intelligence officers, STARstream Research contributing source Caryn Anscomb revealed the existence of a TOP SECRET UFO working group to investigative author Gus Russo.
In his 2007 feature investigative article "The Real X-Files: Is Uncle Sam a Closet UFOlogist," Russo reported:
What then of the so-called "Top Secret UFO Working Group" in which Tom, Jim [CIA officers Ron Pandolfi and Kit Green] and others participated in the 1980s? Fortunately, four participants in those gatherings have communicated with this writer, and one in particular shared original paperwork from the meetings with Caryn, who graciously shared them with me. Consequently, the following can be said of the Working Group story:
The key meetings were held from May 20-25, 1985 in the secure facility of the BDM Corporation (a high clearance military contractor) in MacLean, VA.
There were twenty known attendees (we have the names) representing Los Alamos Nuclear Labs, Army Intelligence, CIA, Lockheed, McDonnell Douglas, and various scientists with security clearances. Other unnamed guests such as Jim attended.
The meeting was titled "Advanced Theoretical Physics Conference" and its main objective was to study odd radar tracings to determine their origins ("friendly" "enemy" or "unknown"). They turned out to be totally anomalous.
Sources to Russo and Anscomb provided a list of names of the alleged membership of the ATP Group, in addition to a copy of what appears to be a TOP SECRET classified reference to the meetings at BDM.
Among the alleged members were Samuel Finch, Oke Shannon, and John Kink of Los Alamos National Laboratory; Bill Wilkinson from CIA; Hal McConnell from the NSA; physicist Dr. Hal Puthoff, Jack Houck; Ed Speakman of INSCOM [Army Intelligence]; Bill Souder of McDonald Douglas; Jake Stewart of the Undersecretary of Defense Research and Engineering; Bob Wood from McDonald Douglas; Ron Blackburn, Milt Jansen, and Don Keuble [?] of Lockheed, Ralph Freeman [?], Gary Bright, Paul Tyler, Ed Dames, and L. Col Mike Neery.
This information remains unconfirmed.
In his book, Colonel Alexander identifies some of the BDM ATP UFO group.
Alexander writes, "Membership included people from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, plus several from defense aerospace industries and some members from the Intelligence Community. Obviously, at least one representative from the Lockheed Skunk Works was present, and Dr. Bob Wood, then with McDonnell Douglas, has identified himself as a participant to other UFO researchers."
Alexander also cites Ron Blackburn as the person responsible for introducing him to Ben Rich of Lockheed.
A 1998 email from Dr. Alexander, obtained by STARstream Research, and directed to several persons associated with UFOs, including Ron Pandolfi of the CIA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence, discusses a method to move UFO disclosure forward. In a covertly recorded telephone conversation from the early 1990s, Ron Pandolfi claims to have been a member of the once secret UFO group.
