Jessica's Law Is Not The Answer

Gordon K. Glatz
I do not agree with Jessica's Law, and not just because I read this article, "Don't sign Jessica's law," By Dr. B. Cayenne Bird. She makes some good points, and I agree with some of what she says.

I would not want any thing to happen to kids, or grand kids of mine either, but this law is just a case of hysteria. People are not using their heads, or they would see this is not the solution.

Keeping an eye on these people if they are on parole is not an invasion of their rights. It is a different matter If they have served their sentences, then they have fulfilled their obligation to society, and should have their rights restored to them. If we require the bracelet after completion of their sentences, we might just as well keep them in prison, as they are still that way with the bracelet. If you are going to use this devise on them, then why not on all criminals. Maybe because it would be un-constitutional to do so.

What good is a not living with in 2000 ft/ yards what ever of a school or park law, it is not going to stop them from praying on children where ever they live.

We do need tough laws that will put the real chronic offenders away, where they can not do it again. If we let them out then we must accept them as citizens again, until they prove other wise. For who do you think will hire, or rent to a person like this if they know who they are. It is impossible for them to return to normal life, under these conditions. So you might as well just lock them up and throw away the key. If they can't find work to support them selfs, or a place to live, we will either have to pay for a place for them out side or back in prison.

If this is a mental problem then they have no place in prison, they should be committed to a mental institution. Where they have committed murder I think they should get the death penalty.

It seems I remember reading about a time in the past when they use to castrate these men, which took away their want for sex. They were like cattle, they ate, slept, and worked, but had no sex drive. So there is a cure if you can stop the drive that causes them to do what they do. The trouble is that some sob singer would raise a big stink if a law was past to allow doing this. The prisons are to full, and something should be done to reduce the crime in the first place. I believe the only way is to make the punishment fit the crime.

I remember seeing the news reports about Jessica, but I had not been following the case. They may have been using his mental limits to get him sent to a mental institution instead of prison. I think he should die too, and by slow suffocation. After all that is how he killed her, and if he is dead, he is not going to do it again.
