Fuel’s yoke on us is reversible...

Gas price is back consumer-gouging again. Here in San Diego, one of the most vulnerable community to be impacted quickly than the rest of the nation, the price have finally broken that $2 tape mark, now, it is hovering at $3-$3.15/gallon mark.

By the trend, fuel seems pretty much on its mark to that rumored price of $7, if not more. Changeable like the Colorado winter temperature, I’ve seen gas price in National City changed so quickly, even two times, and might in some part of the San Diego County, happening more times in a day.

Gas price is a situation that no longer brings people to the street with placards and hooting and howling protests. Though at the pump, they are perhaps in a controlled anger, as they pump their cars with gas. And, if at all, even the media have become lukewarm in their criticisms of the gas producers. Although, Fox News cable had a guest, few days before, and what lingers in my mind was his statement saying to the effect that some gas companies try to do, and directly affecting the price, is to recoup some cost in this current price increases. That was basically what they have been doing all along, increases made in the guise of a farfetched costs factored in. To me, the most debatable and nonsensical yet of reasons combined, is the gas companies’ constant increases due in from high product demand. In my simple analysis, the gas companies have had this practiced long time factored in, and therefore, should be a cost added not by whim.

How baneful an attitude to have something totally untoward to its consumers generating to oil producers untold profits. To my thinking and perceptive mind the increase is a test of the waters, so to speak, creeping beyond and surely into the $3 mark, guided by some esoteric and unexplained economic principle.

Irksome yet are the contentions being hurled around that America is still fortunate for the fact that they are paying less for gas than in most European nations now spending between $5-6/gallon. One could only listen in consternation, and prayerfully hopes the speculation would be just that, a wrong speculation, at best.

Looking ahead and keeping abreast with the throbbing issues of the times is the serious discussions centering on the waning dependency on fossil fuel. Biogreen fuel is the reality that world power generators and cars would be fueled in the future, and that is partially here already. And to lay some political foundation, is President Bush’s trip to South America. In the midst of a protesting crowd in melee throwing rocks and some gunshots wildly fired in the air, a message of unwelcome to Bush in Colombia. The scenario is foretelling of the future of biogas, if outsourced from these outmoded socialistic South American region, is most likely to be headed in the same direction and morass that characterizes the fossil fuel situation.

The worry I have stems from the fact that we are creatures of habit. As such, fast tracking, it wouldn’t be long before the biogas price and supply will be manipulated into a highly commercialized product, lining up the pockets of the main producers, and in the same corporate structure running the fossil fuel business. In this case, the South America region, much like OPEC, which Hugo’s Venezuela is a member, would use the biogas power to capitalize on for personal and political leverage against America. So what is new? Without saying, it would stifle the beautiful mission and goal upon which the biogas project was conceptualized.

Born out of urgency is a new model of thinking whereby keeping our Earth home clean will help thwart or reverse the destructive force that Mother Nature, in parade, had heaped upon us, just recently. Wacky and ferocious weather had hit America, and punished it like an accursed country. Double-digit foot of snow had fallen into the heartlands disturbing the rhythm of life to a standstill. Flights were cancelled, stranding hundred thousands of passengers at the airport and homes. An aftermath of the thick snow melting might yet be another cause of destruction. Tornadoes so deadly, killed countless lives and destroyed homes and properties ahistoric in magnitude. Hurricanes in record force winds brought total destruction to some cities and towns, as well as, to lives of people. Elsewhere, other countries like Indonesia was recently hit by record floods, while famine cuts across the plains of Africa, emaciating innumerable number of people and stocks to death.

As we are a seeming doomed species on this planet earth, but we have a way out. Literally, our own beautiful minds, have discerned for us a threat to our very own survival, which if disregarded, may render our own extinction, much like the floras and faunas of the bygone era. As these beautiful minds have seemed to be noble in wirings, others, unfortunately thrives on wickedness that has far superior power to contaminate and sow destruction to us. This is the realization that faces the biogas invention, just as the marvelous computer and internet have much suffered from viruses spread by the evil minds.

Our own intelligence has for the longest period, provided solutions to our every predicament. We are our own virtual saviors governed by a healthy and normal mind, and harnessed properly. As we embark on a new frontier of fuel source, the biogas, a word of caution, we shall have the full responsibility to guard, check, in short, be circumspect, so that we can avoid a repetition of the fossil fuel fiasco.

To that end, I offer the following suggestions:

Develop more alternative sources of fuel. Historically, civilization was pegged on just the fossil fuel, seemingly inexhaustible, but has made us a total captive, thus, giving birth to corporate greed. Following the principle of free enterprise, discovering more fuel alternatives would help regulate and stabilize prices. Consumers have a chance to be outside of the loop.

Car companies and machine factories should be mandated to design engines with capability to run on other alternative fuels, interchangeably. Though this idea requires some rocket science to do, but as we now see, the rocket science principles are what are making human extraterrestrial travels feasible, discovering for mankind other possibilities.

Increase public knowledge about global warming. In line with the reality discovered about our earth as like a suffocating organism in a mass of pollution is the massive message needed to permeate the world, leaving no one to ignorance. Make the world understand the simple concept that all life in this world hangs under the principle of balance. The hidden message being that mankind has to develop a new set of habit and behavior. To be complacent and ignorant equates to the disruption of the natural laws, as we now see, could be the reality of the prophesied biblical apocalypse.

Monitor the effects of the new biogas impacts on the environment and on people. Massive and huge we have a view about our planet, and its seemingly indestructible nature, has been debunked. Thanks to the bright and noble minds of our intelligent co-inhabitants in this earth, revered in the name of Scientists. They made us see, in virtual reality, the real condition of our one and only home, earth, which is absorbing the man’s garbage, and it is getting sicker everyday. Developing high tech machines to gauge our environment is critical to the solution.
