Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-Up 3.6.07
Entering with a big smile on his face and one hand in the familiar "L" shape on his forehead, Vic the Bruiser didn't give the impression that he cared what Kliff had up his sleeve, or what he had to say, but being the hell of a guy he is, Vic was at least going to humor himself checking the scene out. Letting Kliff know he was just like "Smooth" Johnny Spade - back at the bottom, Vic stood by, still amused, as Kliff sprung a business proposition. $100 cash, right then and there, for a shot at the CCW title tonight! Smirking it off, Vic said he didn't even lace up his boots for a $100 bill. Kliff upped the offer to $200, but Vic replied that he didn't even walk out to his car for $200. The bidding would go to $400, to which Vic responded with a "that's close," before Kliff would arrive at $500- the magic number to strike a deal with the champ.
Vic, being Vic and all, tried to pull a variety of fast ones on Kliff to get away with the money scot-free, but with Chris Alexander mediating, and The Black Redneck threatening legal action, a compromise was finally struck - if Kliff Hanger's hand-picked opponent defeated Vic later on in the evening, then Kliff was back in the title chase! Looking as confident as ever, Vic strolled to the back, $500 richer and already planning ahead for his mystery opponent!
Chris Chaos vs. Guido Andretti (w/Tim the Baker): After making his debut Saturday night, Chris Chaos was looking to climb the ladder in a hurry, and a win in singles action over Guido Andretti couldn't hurt. As the ever-present Tim the Baker led Guido to the ring, one would get the distinct impression that Guido was not overly impressed with his competition. Taking a look at Andretti's win/loss record the past few months show he is a pretty good judge of character.
Chaos went out of his way, however, to make sure that Guido wouldn't soon forget his name on down the road, keeping pace with Andretti, driving him from the ring on more than one occasion. Before long, though, Tim the Baker was up to his usual tricks, and Guido was in control, hammering away on Chaos with clotheslines and hard forearm shots. Going to a rear chinlock, Andretti looked to have things firmly in hand, but Chaos would battle back, hitting a big clothesline and some hard right hand shots, often confounding his opponent with his surprising speed and agility for a heavyweight, including a chiropractor-defying escape in the corner as Guido charged in.
Missing a huge moonsault, Chaos was in trouble as the match rounded the corner, as Tim the Baker jumped up on the ring apron, pulling referee Paul Wood away from the action, which was a perfect time for Guido to use the ubiquitous rolling pin The Baker totes to ringside to lay out Chaos and score the three count! While Andretti may have been conducting business as usual, keep an eye on Chris Chaos, ladies and gentlemen. While he has been around the block for a couple of years, Chaos has emerged as one of the most intriguing newcomers in recent weeks. With heavyweight size and power and cruiserweight speed and athleticism, Chaos will not remain a dark horse in Classic Championship Wrestling for long.
Winner of the Match: Guido Andretti, by pinfall
Following the match, Commissioner Chris Alexander was back in the ring, welcoming a heavily bandaged Johnny Spade, ready no doubt to speak his mind and then some regarding the ruthless attack last week by The Fat N The Furious, Mickey O'Dell, and Damien Divine! Updating fans that Miss Holly Wood was recuperating at home, but she was doing fine, Spade didn't have much chance to continue when Jack Black, Vito Andretti, and Mickey O'Dell made their presence known at ringside! Entering the ring, the plan was clear, but Spade had other things in mind as he fought off both halves of the CCW Tag Team champions, at until Mickey O'Dell struck from behind with his briefcase. The trio is known for efficiency, and within a matter of seconds, Spade was in a bad way again, as Black held him up for a spear from Vito before they delivered the Last Supper on Spade as Alexander and other CCW officials struggled to regain some semblance of control!
The Overnight Males (K-Lo and Randy Royal) vs. The HNIC (Apollo and JB Thunder): As the HNIC rolled into the CCW Arena, Apollo was quick to the microphone, pointing out that even though The HNIC have beaten all comers, they are still not getting the respect they deserve, with a case in point being the fact that they're the second match of the evening, and just days after opening up the big Saturday night show! Saying there was a decided lack of competition, Apollo challenged any two men to come out, to be made an example of by the HNIC! Answering the call was the returning K-Lo and Randy Royal, also known as The Overnight Males!
Not wanting to waste a minute, Apollo and JB jumped both men at the bell, but while K-Lo wound up getting dumped to the outside, Royal kept swinging away, and when K-Lo made it back into the ring, they proceeded to run circles around their opponents, thoroughly confusing them but bringing things back to even keel.
Challenging Royal to a test of strength, Apollo was on top, but Royal was able to reverse out. Taking control shortly thereafter, The HNIC were employing most of the tricks in their book to separate the ring and keep K-Lo in their control. Choking K-Lo to within an inch of consciousness with their trademark baseball bat, Royal was about ready to jump out of his skin wanting to get into the match and save his partner. The opportunity presented itself when JB missed a charge into the corner, where K-Lo was waiting (albeit temporarily), straddling himself on the middle rope. Both men would manage to make it back to his corner for the tag, but Royal was angry and more importantly, he was fresh, given his isolation as The HNIC were brawling down K-Lo. Unleashing on both men, Royal was fighting The Overnight Males back into the match, winging back elbows and clotheslines, including a tandem back elbow with K-Lo on JB, setting him up for the Night Flight, and the win for Royal and K-Lo!
The HNIC still have a valid claim for contention to the CCW Tag Team Championship, even though they wound up on the short end of the paycheck tonight. As for The Overnight Males, nothing makes a statement upon your return to action like a victory over one of the top tag teams not only in CCW, but throughout the southern states. I can't say I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch between these two teams, possibly with a CCW Tag Team title shot on the line. The possibilities.
Winner of the Match: The Overnight Males, by pinfall
Nic Noble & J-Mo vs. CCW Tag Team Champions The Fat N The Furious (Jack Black & Vito Andretti, with Mickey O'Dell): O'Dell Enterprises is back in full swing, and no evidence was any stronger than the trio's actions last week, turning on "Smooth" Johnny Spade for 'forgetting his place' in the company! Things were not looking too great for the combo of Nic Noble and J-Mo, fresh off a big showing on Saturday night's event. As the champions, with the crafty O'Dell and his briefcase in tow, the now-depised Fat N The Furious were defintely under the skins of the CCW faithful.
Noble and Andretti started out with Noble working Vito into the corner with a flurry of punches. Tagging in J-Mo, the pair would score a back elbow, looking solid early. While J-Mo has proven himself a solid up-and-comer over the course of his young career, there is no substitute for experience, given the vast resumes of Jack Black and Vito Andretti. Tagging into the match, Jack Black, to borrow a classic, imposed his physical will on J-Mo, and this was after a Greasy Elbow with Vito for the two count!
J-Mo did try to battle back, but not to much avail, firing off a few punches on Black, but receiving a big boot to the face for his efforts! I'm not sure if Black was trying to put away J-Mo for the win, but at any rate, his sit-down squash left J-Mo in la la land as the big man tagged in Andretti for the killshot. Black wasn't even done there, as he went around the ring to attack Noble in his own corner! Not far behind Black was a vengeful Johnny Spade, armed with a steel chair! Slamming Black from behind with a thundering shot, leaving the referee no other choice but to call for the bell! Spade was a house on fire as he took his show to the ring, but he was just one man against three, and Mickey O'Dell punctuated that by parking Spade with a briefcase shot! Things were looking just as ugly for Spade as they were last week, that is, until The Prophet hit the ring, driving off The FNF and O'Dell!
Taking the stick, Mickey O'Dell indignantly wanted to know what the hell The Prophet was doing there, pointing out the last time he saw Prophet, he was having valet troubles and feeling sorry for himself. Adding that if the big man wanted to step up, he could be Spade's partner (as well as collateral damage!) in a tag match next week against the Tag Team Champions! Taking about a second to come to a decision, Prophet said that he would have Spade's back!
Winner of the Match: CCW Tag Team Champions The Fat N The Furious, by disqualification
Jebediah Blackhawk & Kousin Krazy vs. Bad Medicine #6 & #9 (w/Tim the Baker): In this big return match from Saturday night, Blackhawk and Krazy were already on guard entering to face Tim the Baker's masked menaces and looking to go two up on the CCW mainstays.
Taking #9 to the canvas with a side headlock, Blackhawk slid around to gain a quick two count before tagging in Kousin Krazy. Throwing hip tosses and arm drags, Krazy confounded #9, running him in circles with a criss-cross trick to boot! The Bad Medicines would try some of their double team tactics, but Jeb was right back in the match, crushing #9 with a splash, although he still made it to the corner to tag in #6. With a little good timing, Tim the Baker's men were taking a solid lead, isolating Jeb in their corner and keeping Kousin Krazy even more on edge than usual. Taking to the top rope would lead to the downfall of the Bad Medicines on this night, however, as #6 missed a flip senton from the top rope that would have spelled defeat for Blackhawk. Bad Medicine #9 would tag in, but just in time to run into an unleashed Kousin Krazy! Rejuvenated, the tandem would runamok on the masked duo, scoring a double pin following a double airplane spin!
Following the match, however, The Regulator would hit the scene, still in a sling from his recent injury, attacking Kousin Krazy and driving him into a ringpost on the outside! Telling a stunned Blackhawk that he'd just lost his second partner in two weeks, and to watch his back, cause he was coming for him! Not even giving Blackhawk a chance to respond to his somewhat cryptic comments, Regulator headed for the back, leaving Jeb to pick up the pieces and go from there. It all makes one wonder what the big man is going to do once the sling comes off!
Winner of the Match: Jebediah Blackhawk and Kousin Krazy, by double pinfall
Matt Maverick and Lincoln Walker vs. Elmore & Elma Fudd: With big time payback awaiting them in the ring, it came as little surprise when the Fudds hit the ring, with Elma on a crutch and limping! Explaining to the packed house that Elma had sprained her knee, Fudd produced a doctor's note barring her from competing until March 19! This, as expected, would bring out Commissioner Chris Alexander, who made it clear he did not have time for whatever shenanigans the two of them were up to. Examining the note, Alexander agreed to reschedule the match for March 20, but decided that they were not going to get off that easy, at least not Elmore, as Alexander ordered tonight's match to proceed as scheduled, only now as a handicap match!
Even though they are two of the nicer guys on CCW's roster, you could almost see Matt Maverick and Lincoln Walker licking their chops as they approached the ring. This was nearly better than the originally planned tag team match! Starting out, Walker reversed a wristlock to work Fudd to the corner for a tag to Maverick. The plan seemed to be overwhelming Fudd early but drawing it out, as the two were tagging quickly and taking advantage of the situation, as well they should, with Walker using a top rope axe handle to the shoulder before a double team clothesline for a near-fall left Fudd probably wishing he'd come up with a doctor's note as well! Shifting to a hammerlock/headlock series, Maverick was staying with Fudd, but this time, he managed to make his escape in the ropes.
Fudd would land his first significant offense in the match shortly after the breather, taking control on Maverick and dishing out quite a beating on the fan favorite from Shively. Running into a rare numbers game of his own, Fudd would find himself battling back to square one as Lincoln Walker would tag in, hitting a spear to get another close two-count! Blinding Walker with a rake to the eyes, Fudd wold nail the Buckshot, but Maverick was there to break up the pin attempt. This is where the Fudds once again showed their remarkable resilience and craftiness. As the ref was trying to get Maverick back in his corner, Elma Fudd dropped the crutch and slid into the ring, finally proving to the fans what they had suspected all night long that the injury was a fake! Sinking her boot deeply into Walker's nether regions, it was academic as Fudd would score the three count, somehow sneaking away with another win at the hands of Walker and Maverick!
Clearly not amused at all by the latest antics of Fudd and wife, Chris Alexander was back out to the ring, this time informing Elmore that next Tuesday night, Fudd will be competition with Walker and Maverick once again, only this time the match will be a Triple Threat match! While Fudd looked just as angry and shocked as he had when the original tag team match was made, one can figure that the wheels are already turning, and at the rate they've been going, it's hard to count the Fudds out just yet!
Winner of the Match: Elmore Fudd, by pinfall
Main Event: CCW Heavyweight Champion Vic The Bruiser vs. Mystery Opponent: With the $500 from Kliff Hanger and, more importantly, the Classic Championship Wrestling Heavyweight title, Vic hit the ring to find out who Kliff's hand-picked opponent was going to be tonight. As Kliff introduced "Mr. Derby City" Brandon Scott, this gave the champ a laughing fit! Literally rolling around on the canvas, Vic could not believe what he was seeing! Reminding Scott that "he remembers favors," Kliff's last instruction was to tell the up-and-comer to "go kick Vic's black ass!"
Obviously still amused, Vic would work Scott into the corner, slapping him across the face in leiu of a clean break. All too happy to return the favor, Scott would then push off a headlock, taking the champ to the mat with a big shoulder block! Going to a headlock of his own, Scott was slowly growing tenacious until Vic stopped the momentum by backing his opponent into the corner and brawling away on him.
Looking to send yet another message to the stars of CCW, Vic grabbed a wrench from the ringside area, using Kliff Hanger's protests to score several shots to the ribs and back of Scott, following it up with a big legdrop! Vic was now having his way with the youngster, picking his shots and scoring at will, landing a series of serious chops and a near-fall. Scott was showing a lot of heart by kicking out, but lot a lot of fight at this point in the match.
Having seen more than he could handle, Kliff Hanger rushed the ring, but was stopped by referee Jeremy MacKenzie. Perhaps finding a second wind, Scott fired off a set of chops of his own on the Bruiser, but a double clothesline soon after would find both men on the canvas, trying to make it back to their feet.
While Vic would make it up first, Scott was blocking everything while landing all his shots, hitting Vic with clotheslines to score a couple of near-falls. Mounting the champ in the corner, Scott would rain down with punches as the crowd counted them off. Drawing a warning from MacKenzie for raking the eyes, Vic would instead KO the ref, grabbing a chair to try and finish the match "Vic-style!" Planting Scott on the chair, Vic would turn to find Kliff Hanger, who let fly with punches before landing the Koal Miner Kick on the Bruiser, rolling Scott on top of the fallen champ to gain the three count from MacKenzie, earning Brandon Scott the biggest upset of his career with a pinfall victory over the CCW Heavyweight Champion! Snagging the envelope of cash from the ringside area, Kliff, celebrating the big win that keeps his CCW title hopes alive, proclaimed that the match even had a "money-back guarantee," and that "damnit, I got my money back," much to the approval of the roaring audience!
Winner of the Match: Brandon Scott, by pinfall
