call them "failures" they call them "glitches, mistakes,
bungles, setbacks", but not failing.

However, Billboard magazine shows just how much the label has been shaking things up in its annual "Year In Music" double issue. "It´s the classic case of David and Goliath," chuckles Blacksmoke CEO and founder Kerry Douglas. "God used me to to help little-known artists grow into chart-topping artists. Now, many of them are gospel music 'superstars.'" Blacksmoke or its artists appear on nine of Billboard´s ten 2010 chart surveys for the gospel music genre. The label elbowed out major labels such as Columbia Records and EMI Gospel to lockdown the #2 slot on both the Top 10 Gospel Songs Imprints and Gospel Songs Label charts, second only to Verity Records.

According to a recent story on Fox 5 DC news, DC Breathalyzer Calibration Questioned, the consultant retained to oversee the DWI chemical testing program of Washington, DC´s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Ilmar Paegle, has stated in memoranda only recently disclosed in a DC Superior Court case that at least 10 years worth of breathalyzer results are questionable. Shortly after assuming responsibility over the program, Mr. Paegle identified that the protocol to ensure the machines were producing accurate results had not been followed since at least 2000. In a written memo to a chief prosecutor at the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), Mr. Paegle states that "[f]rom my inspection of the instrument files…there are no records to show that the Intoxilyzer 5000 instruments…have ever been checked for accuracy even though an accuracy test is the only legal requirement a breath testing instrument must meet in the District of Columbia."

Consumers have been told to brace themselves for an unhappy New Year of rising gas and electricity prices with the average UK winter bill hitting a record £630.* The independent price comparison website Energyhelpline.com made the grim forecast amid a backdrop of increased tariffs and plummeting temperatures. Four of the Big Six providers – British Gas, ScottishPower, Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) and npower have so far announced price hikes with E.ON still to declare its hand. Only EDF has announced a freeze until March 1. Mark Todd, director of Energyhelpline.com, said: "The stark reality is that customers are going to be clobbered over the winter if the Big Freeze continues to grip the country. "We forecast the average gas bill for heating and hot water at £509.80 with electricity at about £120 at the current temperature levels. This total could be even higher if they plummet further with people working from home and children off school.
