I’ll Take Off My Rose Colored Glasses If You’ll Just Tell Me The Truth

Carole Pagan
We all want to look at the world through our “Rose Colored Glasses”, don’t we? We want to believe that we can be skinnier, look great, have a clean house, be optimistic, and make a million dollars, with hardly any work. And boy, the advertisers cash in on that, don’t they?

All without doing a thing!

Unfortunately, that’s what people want. They will waste a lot of money chasing after unreal expectations.

I know I have. I’ve spent a lot of time and money chasing after the internet business dream. Finally it hit me. It’s a business, like any other. You have to do certain things – all of the time. You have to know certain things. A lot of them actually. And you can’t do it for free. Once I took off the Rose Colored Glasses, I started doing a lot better.

I get tons of advertisements in my email everyday. I get sick when I read many of them. So many people are being set up for failure by these seeds of unreal expectations.

So, how can you save yourself from the “Rose Colored Glasses Syndrome”?

One thing that helps some is - don’t keep your credit card at your desk. It’s too easy to just fall victim to some emotional copyrighting and whip that card out and buy. Since we’re all sort of lazy, having to get up and get the credit card might make you think twice about whether you really want it that badly.

If it promises instant results, and you know that it’s taken people a lot of hard work to accomplish this before this product came out, it’s probably not true. While there are instant relief products for headaches, backaches, and colds, there isn’t one that I know of for financial aches, weight loss, or any of the other things we would like to be able to do without any work. If there was, wouldn’t everyone be thin, healthy and rich?

Take off the Rose Colored Glasses and Re-read the ad. Look for what you have to “do” to get the promised results. You may not want to do what they are recommending. I’ve had that happen quite a few times, where I’ve opened it up and was totally floored by what they were telling me to do. My gosh – I don’t want to do that! Or sometimes you’re just not able to do what they are recommending.

Once you’ve removed the rose colored glasses and decided that the promises are realistic, and you’re willing to do what you have to do to get the promised results – then go for it.

And your last line of defense, if there’s a guarantee and the product didn’t work as advertised, ask for the refund. Guarantees are used to make the sale because they know most people are too lazy to ask for the refund.

Often times the promise and the reality are far apart. Like a packaged dinner I tried recently. It sounded so good. Of course, my expectations are too high. I always expect it to taste like real food, and it never does. Those rose colored glasses again.

Or the new moisturizer that I tried that promised ‘visible results in just 5 days’. Well, I could see improvement in 5 days, if I looked real hard. But not enough to make me do the ‘happy dance’.

Oh sure, I know better. It’s just common sense. But common sense is not fun. The excitement of the rose colored glasses makes life seem so much more enjoyable, at least until we find out what we already knew – the promises were half baked at best. Hope springs eternal.

But I personally would be happier if the moisturizer company had said – your skin will look so much better in 21 days you will be doing the ‘happy dance’. Why set me up with unreal expectations?

Because they wouldn’t sell as much. Everyone wants ‘instant’. Most people will try it one day, and if they don’t see instant results, they’ll put it on the shelf and say ‘it didn’t work’.

OK, so they sold the first bottle based on an unreal expectation. You didn’t see what you perceived were the promised results because you had on your rose colored glasses. Will you buy another bottle? Probably not, It didn’t work like you were led to believe it would. You’ll be on to the next miracle cure.

I guess I’m a strange person. I’d rather have the truth. Tell me what I really can expect. When it works the way it’s supposed to, you’ll have a loyal customer. It’s the way I run my business too.

I know that if your house is a mess, it will take you a few weeks of using my system to get your house to where it’s really clean and easy to maintain.

In the Suicide by Diet program, I give a 3 week plan, just to get your started. You will have some results in less time, but not enough to do the ‘happy dance’.

Whole Life Overhaul is a year long. If you really believe that you can change a lifetime of bad habits and bad thinking in 7 days, this course is not for you.

Yes, common sense is not a popular idea. But it will save you tons of frustration - and money too.

If you like to know exactly what you can expect, without a bunch of hype, you’ll do business with me. If you’re looking for instant solutions, you won’t. Simple as that. I treat you the way I want to be treated. Just tell me the truth – that will make me happier in the long run. How about you?

And while I may not have as many customers because of this practice, many, if not most of my customers come back to buy the next thing. I’d rather have a handful of satisfied customers than a thousand unsatisfied customers any day.

But sometimes, our expectations and reality don’t always match up, and it’s totally out of our control. What then? Hey, that’s life. We just have to get through it and try to stop complaining about it. Maybe then it’s time to put on the rose colored glasses and say, “things will get better soon.”

Always remember – You can do more than you think you can!
