Travel "Along Interstate-75," with Author Dave Hunter
One of our favorite parts of Along Interstate-75 is the details on each of the maps. You’re driving along and want to know where to make your next pit stop, in the past you probably just watched for upcoming information signs, not anymore. As you make your journey with Dave Hunter’s Along Interstate-75 in your hands you will always know exactly where you are, and what services are around the corner ahead.
Dave has broken the colored maps down into 25 miles per page, giving you easy access to detailed information like which service stations have facilities for large vehicles and RV’s. He also tells you whether these services are on the left or right side of the road so you can plan you stop ahead. Need to pick up some supplies or refill your prescription along the way? Along Interstate-75 also features additional details on where to find pharmacies, superstores (Wal-Mart, etc.), shopping malls, 24 hour stores, vet or animal clinics, antique malls, and nearby tourist centers. We were amazed as to how much information Dave has included in Along Interstate-75. When traveling we enjoy stopping at unique destinations, which are also highlighted. In Ohio at Exit 179 you can drop in and see Snooks Dream Cars and explore the Woods County Historical Museum. Drive a bit ahead to Exit 161 or 159 and you’ll find the “David Copperfield” House. It’s these great highlights which include colorful pictures that make Along Interstate-75 a perfect guide for travelers.
Among the details included in Along Interstate-75 at each exit are:
Exit numbers and Cross-road names
Every gas, food and lodging service within ½ mile of the exit
Whether the service is on the east (left) or west (right) side of the road
Gas services; with special colors which indicate whether open 24 hours and/or if they have a mechanic on duty. Plus, there are also special codes indicate if they also sell diesel fuel, LPG (propane)
Food services - a special color indicates if they have a play area for children, and whether it is inside or outside
Lodging (hotel, motel) services - a special color indicates if they accept pets
Exits with signs indicating police or hospital services
The Road Ahead
Last year when we made the trip to Florida we assumed there would be construction, but we did not know where to expect it. Dave makes it easy for drivers to be prepared for lane changes or route their trips around these obstacles. One of our favorite tips:
Parallel routes and side roads so you know where to get off the interstate (and how to get back on) should the traffic become congested those traffic lanes which are "exit only" lanes.
Other tips include:
The number of traffic lanes and where they merge or expand
The road speed limit at all locations
Where construction zones start and their length, also any lane merges to expect
The location of all police radar units
On page 4 and 5 you’ll find the keys to special attractions and sites to explore along 75 with the page number to the map. You will also know where every rest area and welcome center is, and what facilities they offer, plus their hours of operation. An important note Dave includes is exactly how far you’ll have to travel to the next one! This is a great tip for those traveling with kids and pets that may need to make frequent stops along the way. The guide also covers major landmarks in the area such as towns, rivers, bridges, railroads, recreation, and county lines and names, and which of these counties are "dry."
