Mitsubishi and Hydro-Quebec launch largest electric-car test in Canada

Mitsubishi Canada and Hydro-Quebec have teamed up to launch the largest electric-car test program in Canada.
Boucherville, Quebec will host five of the all-electric Mitsubishi i-MiEVs. The cars arrived in the town and are currently being prepared for their new drivers.
The Mayor of Boucherbille, Jean Martel, is excited to be driving an i-MiEV. "By participating in this project, I feel I'm contributing to technological progress that will enable all of us to live in a cleaner world and breathe healthier air," he said.
Eventually, there will be 50 of the EVs in the province with Hydro-Quebec leading the road tests. They're looking to find out how the cars perform in the winter, as well as peoples' charging habits and overall satisfaction with the cars. Hybdro-Quebec is also particularly interested in how the vehicles will effect the electricity grid and what kind of infrastructure would be needed to support EVs.
A larger rollout of i-MiEVs will begin with the start of the second phase in Jan. 2011.
