Cinerio Entertainment Continues to Enhance Reading

Teresa K. Saari
Cinerio Entertainment has combined its talents with writers such as Angela K. Narth, author of Fergus, Prince of Frogs and The Very Last Ladybug War, to release a series of interactive DVD’s which are aimed toward the beginning reader. The DVD’s are based on wonderfully illustrated storybooks and allow the user to either relax and watch the movie version or read along at their own pace with highlighted text, by way of the remote control.

Cinerio Entertainment takes the book, scans all pages and animates characters to narrate the story. Camera moves are used to give semblance of movement or emphasis to add the desired effect. This process is better known in the industry, as ‘picturemation’. Local celebrities are brought in to do the voice overs and the end result is fascinating. They’ve taken into consideration the fact that all children learn to read at different speeds and through use of the remote, allow the children to control their own reading experience.

Fergus, Prince of Frogs is a delightful story about a frog with a beautiful voice who loves to sing. He’s been made fun of many times because of his appearance. When he sings, his mouth opens wide, his lips quiver and the wart on his forehead shakes. To avoid being laughed at, he takes refuge in a tree to pursue his musical passions.

The King decides to hold a contest to find the best singer in the land. Fergus is soon discovered, but is taken captive by the King’s henchmen. The King realizes how important it is to Fergus to return to the tree, to his home and to his friends and so he names him Fergus, Prince of Frogs and gives him his freedom. In exchange for that show of kindness, Fergus offers to return to the castle every night to sing for the King.

The Very Last Ladybug War is about a young ladybug named Adalia, who while usually happy, always becomes distressed when it comes time for war. The ladybugs go to battle, and the number of spots they have determines who fights against whom. Desperate to put an end to the fighting, she comes up with a brilliant ploy, enlisting the aid of a friend, who’d been injured during a previous battle. The rest of the ladybug population soon comes to realize that despite physical appearances, not only could they get along, but also learn to enjoy each others company.

The stories, while delightful to read, watch or listen to are both entertaining and educational. They show children how unfair and destructive it can be to judge others by appearances alone, and display the emotions of compassion and equality. Highly recommended not only for younger children who are beginning to read on their own, but also for parents who wish their children to view programming which promotes fairness for all.

There are more than forty digital picture books in the pipeline now, with more being signed every week. The website for Cinerio Entertainment is currently under construction, however for more information about their innovative products, please contact:
