Congress fiddles while al Qaeda targets

Jonathan King
LA based counter-terrorism agents recently broke up a prison grown Islamic terror cell intent on bombing military installations, synagogues and other places identified with the Jewish faith. This ominous development was reported briefly without indepth analysis, then spiked, by an MSM that can't give us enough of Cindy Sheehan and her disgraceful band of odd angry traitors.

There is ample evidence the Folsom jihadists are just the tip of a terror iceberg. Instead of worrying about this real problem our Congress held hearings Friday about the "crisis" of sexual assaults in United States jails and prisons. It was truly a pathetic spectacle.

The House of Representatives has established the lofty goal of stopping the 8,000 rapes that allegedly occur each year in jails and prisons. By comparison, 262,800 sexual assaults occur annually in American communities. It is unclear if Congress wants to stop these attacks as well, or understands some of sex offenders eventually get caught and sent to prison where, presumably, they might want to have relations with other randy reprobates.

The myth of widespread prison rape has become a BIG LIE (one of many) radical prisoner rights activists use to pillory correctional administrators. In fact, almost all prison sex is consensual. In fact, almost all prison rapes could be successfully resisted if the inmate-victims displayed a willingness to defend themselves with the same vigor they used against victims of the crimes that sent them to the hoosegow in the first place.

But, I digress. My point is that the focus is on the wrong victims. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Secretary Roderick Q. Hickman testified at the hearing but was not asked to explain how the agency he has been reforming for the last two years was oblivious to an Islamic terror network that included prison inmates at New Folsom and parolees in LA County.

Hickman's biggest supporter in the state legislature acted as a cheer leader for him at the hearing. Senator Gloria Romero is one of the most far left radicals in a chamber full of them, and her support of Hickman says everything about what kind of prison and parole service Arnold Schwarzenegger wants in California.

It isn't one that can identify terrorists.

The US Congress is threatening sanctions to stop a prison rape epidemic that doesn't exist. The same body cares not that the largest prison and parole system in the free world was totally clueless about a terror cell in its mist planning a bombing campaign set to begin in less than three weeks.

We don't need to mention Schwarzenegger is a Republican and his party controls both houses of congress. We don't need to mention the Democrats will not make this an issue.

After all, elected Republicans approach the enemies within with incompetence and timidity while Democrats want us to understand them.
