MICAH KIGEN: WHY I CANNOT HAVE A CUP OF TEA WITH SUSPENDED MINISTER WILLIAM RUTO

"THIS MAN RUTO HAS MANY QUESTIONS TO ANSWER"- BY MICAH KIGEN. READ ON BELOW.............

A prominent Kenyan politician and leading business executive Micah Kigen has for the first time publicly laid bare his differences with suspended Kenyan Higher Education minister William Ruto, charging that he cannot share a table for a cup of tea with the beleaguered Eldoret North legislator, owing to his wanting leadership style and opportunistic politics which he learned from retired President Daniel arap Moi.

Kigen accused William Ruto of being a fickle politician, and one who was taking advantage of the ignorance of the rural folk for his own self-aggrandizement.

"No, no, no! I cannot sit down anywhere on the same table with this suspended minister for a cup of tea. He is merely following the footsteps of Moi, and perfecting the former President's leadership style of capitalizing on the ignorance of the rural folk and gullibility of many other Kenyans, for his own selfish interests. Truth will out some day!" Kigen thundered.

He continued:

"I do not cherish William Ruto's leadership style and mark you, I have never done so any way. The people makes the leader, but the leader does not make the people. When William Ruto realizes this one day, the better for him and his irritating nature."

POWERS

Kigen contended that the people of Kenya have been given powers under the new constitutional dispensation, and the power base solely rested on them now, and not the leaders.

Kigen is the chairman of the popular Orange Democratic Movement in Keiyo South constituency located in the expansive Rift Valley province

The President of the Republic of Kenya Mwai Kibaki suspended William Ruto recently from the cabinet as the Higher Education minister, pending the outcome of a corruption case against him in court involving millions of shillings.

Said Kigen:

"When it dawns on Ruto that he should not use the rural folk and exploit their ignorance for his own selfish motives, then that will be the opportune moment when I will consider sitting down with him for a cup of tea. But for now, I cannot do so. Far from it!"

RUTO'S ANTICS

He cautioned the Kalenjin community to be wary of Ruto's antics and not to allow themselves to be misused by him. Instead, Kigen advised, the Kalenjins should chart their own destiny for their own sake and that of posterity.

"The Kalenjins have been in the government for 40 years and as a community, there should be a paradigm shift from the old guard to a new leadership but not the Ruto style. Ruto has been exploiting the naivety of the Kalenjin community by cheating its members that when he is harassed, they are the ones who bear the brunt of his persecution which is a white lie", a concerned Kigen further stated, raising his right hand in a gesticulative gesture.

BREAKING THE LAW WITH IMPUNITY

Kigen emphasized:

"If the law pinches you after you break it with impunity, how does your community come in? If I am at the wrong, I should be dealt with individually as Kigen but not the Ruto style of involving his community in his tribulations".

The Kalenjins, Kigen pointed out, are in the dark following Moi and Ruto's perturbing leadership tendencies of which he (Kigen) was opposed to. Ruto, he charged, was merely craving to ascend to the highest seat in the land due to his insatiable lust for power, riches and political supremacy.

THE CHEPKORIO FUNCTION WHICH A BITTER KIGEN SKIPPED AND WHICH MOI WAS THE CHIEF GUEST

A bitter Kigen , at the same time, explained why he skipped a funds drive presided over by retired President Moi at Chepkorio in Keiyo South, of the Rift Valley province, last Saturday.

"I was the chairman of the Kanu Action Group in 2003. Moi cheated me that I should campaign for the election of Uhuru Kenyatta who was then vying for the presidency on a Kanu ticket, against President Mwai Kibaki. Unfortunately, I carried the cross alone and used my money amounting to millions of shillings for the pro-Uhuru campaign but I was never reimbursed for my expenses", Kigen lamented.

WARRANT OF ARREST

Kigen explained that a warrant of arrest had been issued against him over failure to pay over Ksh 1 million for expenses incurred by the Kanu Action Group.

WHY SHOULD I SHARE THE SAME FUNCTION WITH MOI WHO PERSECUTED ME? A DISENCHANTED KIGEN DEMANDS

"In this connection, why should I be with Moi at the same function in Chepkorio? Is Moi not the same person who harassed me? Isn't it noble to have principles! I used all my wealth for the pro-Uhuru campaign and to add insult to injury, a warrant of arrest has been issued against me!", regretted an emphatic Kigen.

He charged that the former President sought to cripple him and his family economically.

"For me to be with Moi at the same function is indeed an affront to my dignity, and a sorry act of compromising my own principles. I refuse to be part of any event at which Moi will be guest", Kigen concluded, his face clouded with discontent.
