Furutani Endorses Ted Lieu for State Senate
"It's an honor that so many have asked me to run for the 28th Senate District seat," said Assemblymember Warren Furutani. "After much deliberation, I have decided not to run and am endorsing my friend and colleague Ted Lieu for State Senate."
"Ted's perseverance and willingness to fight for his constituents during difficult times is an inspiration -- and it serves California well," continued Assemblymember Furutani. "I look forward to working with Ted in the State Legislature on the many important issues facing our constituents and our great state."
Assemblymember Furutani joins dozens of other local elected officials, including Congresswoman-Elect Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Councilmembers Janice Hahn, Bill Rosendahl and Paul Koretz and organizations including the Torrance Police Officers Association and Crime Victims United of California in supporting Ted Lieu for State Senate.
"I'm honored to have the support of my friend and colleague Warren Furutani. He is a dedicated and lifelong leader for Southern California," said Assemblymember Lieu.
Warren Furutani represents the 55th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Carson, Harbor City and the Harbor Gateway, Lakewood, parts of Long Beach, and Wilmington. Furutani has over 40 years of experience and involvement in education and public service, both as an elected official and a community organizer. He is the only person to have been elected and re-elected to the boards of the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District.
Assemblymember Lieu represents the 53rd Assembly District in the State Assembly, which includes the cities of El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Lomita, Marina Del Rey, and portions of the City of Los Angeles.
