More Power to the People!
Where two or three are gathered in my name, there will I be also.
Jesus also said:-
With faith as little as a mustard seed, you will be able to move mountains.
Although professing to preach and spread democracy everywhere, America has always played against the wishes of the majority of the people, and this has never been more pronounced than since George W. Bush came to office. In 2003 when millions and millions around the world, including in America, went out into the streets to demonstrate against the invasion of Iraq, the USA president, without even giving it a consideration, just went ahead and did what he, and not what the people, wanted. When the Palestinians, in a democratically run election which was even monitored and witnessed by outside observers, chose Hammas to lead them, the western nations, and especially Israel and America got so angry that they tried to starve the Palestinians by blocking all incoming aid as well as money due to them for their daily livelihood, while at the same time allowing Israel to go out and indiscriminately kill, kidnap and imprison as many of them as is possible. Naturally, as a result, as is happening in Iraq, civil war is also gradually seeping in to divide the Palestinian people. Divide and rule is the name of the game.
Hugo Chavez of Venezuela too, was not mad at Bush without good reason. After the majority of the people of Venezuela had chosen him as their president, in a fair and square democratically run election in 2000, the CIA in cohort with his internal opposition, had something to do with forcibly removing him and briefly putting him in prison, to which the USA lost no time in recognizing what they thought was a fait-accompli new government. But the Venezuelan people would not have it; they came out again, in full strength, to demand for his release, which, to the shame and disappointment of the accomplices, was immediately reversed. Understandably, ever since, Chavez’s view of USA policies has remained suspicious and unpalatable, to say the least. To the dismay of the state department, Hugo Chavez has recently been re-elected as president of Venezuela, by a landslide, for another six years!
Now they have decided to fight with people of their own size (or a people weak enough to beat) – the Somali people, who had chosen to be governed by the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) despite their strict laws, but who after 16 years of chaos had brought them peace and order, rather than the ruthless rule of the warlords whom the UN, USA, Woyane and others had chosen for them, outside their country, without giving them a say in the matter. And now, after having advanced the woyane from Ethiopia, who themselves are illegally in power, against the will of the Ethiopian people, the USA, under the pretext of having smelled an Al-Qaeda at that part of the world, have started their usual long range missile destruction, as usual killing innocent people.
Is election of leaders by the majority of the people not one of the basic components of democracy where the will of the people is king? If not, what then is democracy, pray tell?
Eritrea too might have unknowingly rocked the boat and shocked the western world when in 1991, after thirty years of determined fighting, she came out victorious over the Ethiopians. And to add insult to injury, in 1993, the Eritrean people in a referendum had almost unanimously (98%) chosen independence from Ethiopia, thus eliminating any other hopes or ideas that the west might have had in mind - or so Eritreans thought at the time, until they discovered them approaching and awakening the few dormant opposition of the Eritrean government whom at one time they even tried to empower in order to topple it. Today, it is the belief of most Eritreans that, as is true with Somalia, so were the Americans behind the 1998/2000 war with her southern neighbour, which caused the death of almost 20,000 of her children and the maiming of many more, not to mention killed her economy, but which nevertheless has still left her standing, despite, ever since, being bombarded by accusations and name calling through their media and political tools, always with the intention of stumping her growth.
With what has been going on for the past ten years, since Eritrea suffered an illegal, but nevertheless internationally acquiesced invasion by the woyane from the south, and the constant barrage of groundless accusations and inhumane threats of sanctions, which she has been receiving from the part of powerful western nations and their so-called media, for no other reason than to unjustly appease and support the lawless, intransigent, belligerent, disdainful, shameless and dishonest woyane terrorist puppets of the USA., there has never been a time where, in the short life of our young independent nation, Eritrea, that help from her children was ever needed more than at the present time.
From what we have been witnessing lately, be it in the case of Iraq, Lebanon , Palestine and very recently Somalia, world law and order seems to be disintegrating and coming loose at the seams, as blind, dangerous and destructive mindless strength and power seems to have taken over. And most importantly the search for pretexts for whatever reason by accusing and blaming Eritrea for the troubles imposed in Somalia, should be something that should concern and worry all Eritreans, especially in the absence of world law and order.
Based on all the above and more, I would like to ask for the cooperation of every fellow Eritrean and friends of Eritrea from around the world, and in Eritrea proper, who care for the safety of our nation, to join me in a simple mission to try and defuse this evil that is hovering in our part of the world – the Horn of Africa - by taking a few minutes, even one minute, every day, just to concentrate, meditate, or pray if you like – for the protection and safety of our people and our nation. Just to sit down and imagine the map of Eritrea in your mind and try to think positively. The idea is to unleash a storm of positive thoughts and good vibes to surround our country for protection.
It would have been nice if we could synchronize these powerful good vibes, but since we all live in different time zones, we will have to make do with different convenient times of the day, evening or night. For those of us who might be able to follow a certain time every day, the Greenwich mean time (GMT) of 5:00:PM should be observed. I will leave it to the readers and to those who are experts in conversions as to the time we should all agree upon. But in the meantime, in order to get us started immediately in synchronized thoughts let me give a few examples.
Just to get us started immediately, until a ‘convenient for all’ time gets established, here are a few time zones we can get started on. For starters 5:00PM Greenwich mean time in the USA would be 12:00 noon in the east (EST) - 11:00 am central (CST)- 10:00 am mountain(MST) and 9:00AM in the west (PST). In Alaska it would be 8:00 am and in Hawaii 7:00 am.
Australia and Tokyo are 16hours and 14 hours forward respectively. Canada too has different time zones but Europe should be the closest to the GMT) hour of the basic 5:00 pm from where we all start counting either forward or backwards. Of course in Eritrea and its surroundings it should be 8:00pm etc..etc..etc.. I hope each and everyone will make the effort to find out their time zone in GMT.
This is one way we will be able to defend our nation without spending a cent or a penny, but as always, we can in unison, with a few powerful minutes of our time, move mountains or defuse all the evil thoughts that our enemies are hatching up. Let us try it. We have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
As we commemorate Martin Luther King day on the 15th of January, what better way to pay tribute to his memory then by following in his foot steps and taking his example of non-violence, as he himself did, having been inspired by the great Mahatma Gandhi, who, through his peaceful and non violent resistance defeated the mighty British Empire without a single shot from his part.
As it is said that the pen is mightier than the sword, and so should, at the end of the day, powerful masses of peaceful and positive thoughts be mightier than the evil weapons of mass destruction currently being used.
With truth, courage, justice and the dedication and determination of her children on her side, no harm will befall Eritrea, no matter how powerful her foes. We will overcome!
